  1. Thanks! That is the idea and would be simple enough to cut! I would still like to see the tree being held off to the side much like the ones that are holding a shovel or a sign. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate the help and the ones that have been posted will most likely be cut! Thanks everyone for your help! Erv
  2. I have seen that one that Steve has on his site but what my "CEO" (wife) has in mind would be the Gnome holding the tree much like the ones that have a shovel and or a sign more for gardening. Ruby has thought about trying to do it with the computer but neither one of us are designers using the computers! She suggests items, I look for the patterns and do the cutting. I know someone will come up with one! Erv
  3. I guess keeping ones self busy for a while! The one thing that both my wife and I haven't seen as of yet is a gnome with a Christmas tree in hand ready to set it up! Of course it is still awhile before the season but just thinking ahead! Erv
  4. The almost pure white poplar is hard to come by! I, l like many others, always check the wood selection of poplar at the big boxes, and will snap up any of the white boards and any with different coloring. I still have a 2 inch wide by 24 inch that would pass for ebony when a finish is applied! The colorings of the wood make for interesting compound cuts of ornaments when glued up! Erv
  5. Congrats on the new addition, the saw of course, and have a great time getting use to the new item! By the way if I am sure about this, one of the top pattern designers I believe also lives there, Sue Mey, of Scroll Saw Artist, look up her designs and get in touch with her. Erv
  6. Great idea! What I have thrown away would have been very useful for larger projects! They won't be thrown away anymore! Erv
  7. By steel brush, I meant that as cutting with the blade and the results looking like being painted with a paint brush! My sister was a born artist so I just picked up that term for what I do and the excellent cuttings of other scrollers. Erv
  8. I took a copy of this pattern when Steve first posted it with the purpose of using hardwoods instead of bb py! Now that I see what you have created I will be hard pressed to work one up to this measure! Very, very well done! Erv

    Mr. Ed

Very nicely done, simple horse head, great cutting and like the frames you always do! Well done! Erv
  10. Jim, if it wasn't for the fact that everyone knows you and that all of your projects are indeed cut with a scroll saw, it would be very hard to believe that you are not using a laser to produce these beautiful plaques! The cutting is absolutely perfect! I have been doing this hobby since 2005 and have yet been able to turn out letter cutting any thing like this! At times I come close until I take a closer look! You are the master with the steel brush! Erv
  11. Happy 4th of July to everyone and make it a safe one! Erv
  12. I googled both the Fasco company and the Strong Tool Design company and found some info on both companys. The Fasco company is still in business in Ozark, MO and makes electric motors of all sizes and shapes. The Strong Tool design I don't believe is any longer in business. This scroll saw was made around 1989 and from what info was available from a vintage tool site, very few were sold. The company was located in Michigan. This is all i could come up with and what value it would have would be how badly you would want it! Erv
  13. Not only old enough but have ridden in them! Your friend received a very nice present and very understandable that it was hung the same day! Great job! Erv
  14. Great job all around with just enough color to enhance the subject! Well done! Erv
  15. Great idea and it looks like the real thing! Good subjects also to add to the slabs! Well done! Erv
  16. All 3 of the new balancing patterns of Steve's can be found in the Toy section of the pattern selector. If you opt for 48 patterns per page you will find them on the last page! Erv
  17. Rolf, if you haven't already, check out Steve's site today, Tue. 24,! This one will get the grand kids going! Erv
  18. I cut that one as soon as it appeared along with the bird that balances by its beck. It is a quick cut for sure! Good job on yours with the added colors! Erv
  19. Great job on your cutting and your friend will love it and you for doing it for her! Erv
  20. Beautiful job all around and the inlay on the frame is just right! Any other projects that you do with the idea of inlay on the frame, you won't go wrong by doing it like this one! Great job! Erv
  21. That is really different and a great idea using the stone paint! Lot easier than digging one up out of the earth! Erv
  22. Great job and as others have said, very doable intarsia pattern as you have proved! Erv
  23. A project like this shouldn't be to difficult to cut with the scroll saw, if a person couldn't cut a circle out of 2 pieces of wood they could always cut it as a square or triangle or 6 or 8 sided shape! Cutting the inside out to fit over the top of the can shouldn't be that difficult! This is a great idea and one I will try for sure! By the way you did good on your interpretation, well done! Erv
  24. Love it and you did good by not including the clock! Your girlfriend will appreciate your time involved in making this for her! Erv
  25. I don' thank we have missed the Christmas season and not watched this all time great movie! The pattern you have created and your cutting and finish just tops it off! Good job! Erv
