  1. Just do what @MarieC said. Maybe you can have them take pictures as they unwrap!
  2. Nice cutting. You as well!
  3. Well done Brian. I always paint the backer to match the letters. This certainly helps when there are two of the same letter.
  4. I am just starting to get "into" it. Still not sure where I will get the various woods.
  5. It is a free pattern.
  6. This is what I have as well.
  7. I used a smaller blade on the interior cut of the cross. I wasn't very accurate on the lines and I realized that I was pushing a bit. When all the cutting was done, the interior part could be removed, either from the front or the back!!! Certainly made staining it a bit of a challenge!
  8. I use my mop on larger, solid pieces. I guess I get a little aggressive because it will grab the piece right out of my hand and throw it across the room. Scares the out of me!! It is mounted in my drill press.
  9. Thanks Frank. That will be cut soon(ish). Hubby just saw it and said "That's interesting!".
  10. Welcome back.
  11. Maybe that is why you can't get anywhere on the link in the resources page here.
  12. When I was at my daughter's place, I noticed that their stockings were just being hung on a picture hook. Mom to the rescue!!! This is a Kathy Wise design that showed up in my FB feed recently. I cut this as segmentation from one piece of reclaimed elm, from our city's canopy. It is a little more than 1" thick. Used a(many) #7 Precision skip blade(s). Colour provided by watered down Unicorn Spit. There is one major cutting error that I turned into a design choice. This is just waiting for the Osmo satin finish to dry.
  13. There are no dumb questions, just unasked questions. Welcome, @Liz Weir to the village.
  14. @Dave Monk it looks wonderful. What a great fix.
  15. The cats certainly were popular this year. I had a few at shows the last couple of years and no bites. This year, I sold out. 5 total.
  16. Here is the last of my "Must do" Christmas gifts. The phone stands are Steve Good pattern that is enlarged a bit. 1/4" poplar cut with #5 blade. I am most proud of the names as it is the first time I really used Inkscape properly. These are for my nieces and nephew. The wand is an Al Baggatta pattern from Scrollsaw woodworking magazine. I believe it is cherry with a 7/8" dowel as the pointer. This is for my grandson. He is also getting a magic kit. The cats are maple/walnut with a cork backer. Cut with a #2/0 blade. Another Steve Good pattern. This was a special request.
  17. Thanks for the tutorial. However, I am confused (not to hard some days!) How many pieces per tree?
  18. I did.... Did you read it correctly?
  19. Looks good. I cut the set a few years back. Didn't remember that it was a door topper. I cut them from 3/4" thick wood and called them shelf sitters.
  20. Beautiful work.
  21. Late to the conversation. You could always use coloured paper, lightly taped, behind the cuts to test colours.
  22. Do you just melt the caps to create a sheet of plastic?
  23. What did you make withe the melted bottle caps?
