    Despite my shop vac running and connected to the scrollnado, this is the end result after the afternoon of cutting.

    Good looking frame. I am also intimidated with making frames. I don't have a table saw, jointer, etc etc. I have a scroll saw! You-Tube sucks at instructions for making frames. That being said, I have found one that I have been using. I just recently purchased a mini table saw to get the 45 degree angles.

    @Scrappile, this is the chuck I purchased to put on my 1750rpm bench grinder. https://stockroomsupply.com/products/keyless-chuck?_pos=4&_sid=e727707be&_ss=r. It hold my mop sander on the right hand side. The flex drum kit fit on the left hand side.

    What a beautiful pattern and cutting. Hubby is a guitarist. He has quite a collection, now about 15 of them. He is now getting into building them. Up to now it has just been kits. Latest one was an acoustic. He was looking over my shoulder when I stopped on this post. He really liked it. Does Sam have a site where the pattern can be obtained? Or would you be willing to share to me as well?

    Given that they are in CT, I would assume the measurements are in inches.

    My dad didn't do scroll saw work, but I have fond memories of him puttering around in his workshop!

    This was a custom order. My daughter's friend was having a baby shower and my daughter is broke. I offered time and materials (cause that's what we do). I gave her a choice of fonts. Thanks @don in brooklin on for the Berlin font. This is what she chose. It is Wondrus from DaFont. I think it might become a fav. This is cut from 1/2" ply with a #7 blade. Acrylic paint with Walrus Oil as a top coat.

    It is interesting, I didn't want to do intarsia because I hate sanding. The sanding in intarsia seems to be a different beast! It is fascinating to see what is under that top layer. It is bringing out something different instead of "just sanding".

    Thank you all for the very kind and encouraging words. For @TAIrving and @JessL it has taken me more than 10 years to attempt the Intarsia route. I hate sanding and this take a lot of sanding. However, the sanding reveals a new look in the piece. Not just to "smooth" it out for a finish.

    Finished another intarsia piece. I am so glad that patterns are just suggestions!!! This pattern came from the SSWC #71. This is mostly poplar. The eye has some walnut & two other mystery woods. The lips are two separate mystery woods. Finished with one coat of shellac then topped with the beeswax butter! The Poplar is from the stuff I bought this spring and had cupped. The tips of the moon are on the cupped edge, but I thought it worked with the moon. I really liked the grey markings in the wood.

    I appreciate the compliment. I don't feel that I am "really skilled" this is my third piece.
