Working on project and ran out of accelerator spray for the super glue. So put water in sprayer and used same way. Works the same just as fast setup time.
COOL! Doesn’t even begin to describe the workmanship an detail. I like the idea of using a drill as a lathe. I could have used that idea today making some wheels. Thanks for posting the video
First of all nice pattern and video. Just a tip on placement of overlay letters. When I made my Cora box I used the blank that I cut the letters out of. Placed the blank in the position and spot I wanted the letters. Put glue on letters and inserted them into the blank. Then carefully raised blank. Very easy and no measuring
She is coming home at end of month an will give to her then. That is if the virus doesn’t stop them coming from Florida . Thanks for the kind comments!
I haven’t cut into it so not sure how deep it went. I just need the surface white. But I would guess if doing thick stock you may have to bleach again after shaping.
She is five an makes her own jewelry. Her mom asked me to make a box for her. The one with her name is a Steve Good pattern. Plywood stained cherry with walnut overlay for name. Other one will be her put up an take care of box lol. Quarter saw red oak an black walnut. Finished with Arm R Seal. Got plans from Woodsmith Plans.
Really there isn’t any after totally dry. At least with my smell, now my wife will be different story lol. What I am working on is a 1925 Ford truck. Needed white for the tire rims. So very small amount needed.
I just used bleach right out of bottle. Told that by letting wood dry it will draw more bleach into it. Don’t know if true but it worked this away. I didn’t have any aspen an don’t need much. Thought what the heck try something new lol
Anybody try bleaching wood? I needed a small amount of white. A guy told me about using bleach. Put in pan for 15 minutes let dry did again two more times. You see in picture how much it whitened. Cut off from same 1/8” thick ash board.
I usually keep the blade running an back out. With it running it won’t hang up in the cut. If I want a wider vein what I do is cut the vein with a normal blade then change out the blade for a spiral blade. It will follow the previous cut an the spiral blade will make a wider vein.
That is great! See many small parts outstanding job. When I did my steam Locomotive I used a circle cuter from HF. Don’t know if that is something you could have used. But I don’t think you are missing anything by not doing the inlay.
