  1. I used 3M 77 to attach paper to wood for a backer before & after about a year it came unattached. FYI
  2. The wood in truck & on floor stacked I got for $50. There are 4 boards 8'x16"x1" of cherry. Also walnut, oak, poplar, ash of different sizes. I tried out the drum sander and it works great. The dust collector isn't as load as I though it would be. I do all of my sanding before I cut out a pattern. After cut I will use sanding mop or light hand sanding to get fuzzies.
  3. You are right it is a 16-32.
  4. I picked up a performaxa 16-32 drum sander today for $300. What do you think? Great shape.
  5. Got my copy of SSW&C today in east central Indiana. Anyone get there's? Better than the last one but that didn't take much.
  6. I get poplar for $1.80, $1.20 if you are a business. But a bit far away for you LOL east central Indiana. It is a lumber outlet store ship all over the world. Frank Miller Lumber
  7. Sue Mey placed my "Nothing Scares me I am a school bus driver" in her email she sends out! This was quite a surprise an for such a great pattern maker to feel I did good enough to be included in her email.
  8. Thanks. I take my horses to a Armish man to be shoed and it seems funny to hear of a Armish man drawing a GTO, vet ect. LOL
  9. Just construction paper
  10. I asked Sue Mey to make this pattern for me. My wife & I are both bus drivers for K thru 12. Cut with FD #5 using BB with yellow paper backer glued onto plywood. Frame is made out of red oak. The picture makes the left corners look off but they aren't. It is 9"x12" not counting the frame.on
  11. I found out that by overlapping the blue tape by about 1/8" I can pull it off in bigger pieces.
  12. I use 3M 77 glue sprayed on the blue tape. Using enough for the tape to look wet and than put pattern on right than. Also cover with clear tape. Works for me.
  13. My favorite is the CSX one. Maybe because I retired from the railroad after 41 years. Starting with Penn Central, ConRail then we became CSX.
  14. You can't beat that kind of service! Hard to get some companies to do anything to help you.
  15. Were did you get your black lacquer? And was it hard to work with?
  16. Sorry to push your button scrollsaw703 but when you said "It's the other tools that create dust" lead me to think you were saying the saw does't make dust. You are right everybody has to set there shop up so it works for them. A friend was building his house and people would stop an tell him how he should be doing it. He got tired of being told so he made a pile of cut off 2x4s some nails and a hammer. Told the next person "I will build my house the way I want it, you take that material and build your own".
  17. I use a box fan with filter next to my scroll saw. If the saw doesn't make dust then were is all the dust coming from that gets into the filter? My saw sets in front of a window and when the sun is right you can see small dust in the air that you may not see without the sun. I also have a jet air filter system that I have to clean out the filter once a week. I don't do any amount of big sanding just prep for the scroll saw boards.
  18. I top feed my EX21. What I do to hit the table hole is after I cut a fret out I move to the one next to it. This way the table hole is in the area. Sometimes I have to move the piece from side to side or back an forth but after you get use to it it becomes second nature. Also you can draw lines on the table in a X shape to show were the hole is. Like on the new sayco saws. It is still easier to hit the big table hole than to hit a tiny hole under the board IMO.
  19. Maybe you would want to see the teacher getting his award this Friday 5/5/17
  20. Thanks for all the kind comments! I used the FD#3 New Spiral blade to cut were the ground shows plowed. Also on the sun rays I first cut using FDUR #5 blade than recut using a FD#3 spiral to get a wider kerf. The spiral followers the precut so you get a straight line. The arrows was the biggest "hold your breath" cutting LOL.
  21. Thanks to Russell "Birchbark" I was able to make this project for some school kids to give to there teacher. I used walnut & yellow heart with a blue paper between them. Cut with FDUR #5 & #3 blades also used FD #3 New Spiral. Finished with lacquer spray. Without people like Russell I wouldn't be able to do special orders like this. Thanks!
  22. I have had several pieces break off. That is what glue was invented for lol.
  23. Thanks for the suggestions and information. Will post the finished project.
  24. What is a good finish to use on yellow heart so it holds its color?
