    Improved the dust collector. I added a Winn Environmental air filter that replaced the bag on top of the DC. Even better filtering, and a huge increase in suction. I was pleasantly surprised at the increase in air flow to my machines.

    Sorry, I just kind of winged it. Took some measurements, bought some 2x4's and 2x6's and went at it. I put 1/4" MDF on top, over the 2x4's for a smother surface, then added a 1x3 on the edge. The front legs are shorter then the back on purpose, so the 1x3 keeps most of the mess from falling on my lap. Its just a heavy, rigid table. Let me know it you want actual dimensions, but if your chair adjusts up and down, you have some leeway. Jim

    Thicker wood actually makes it easier - IF your table is square.

    Here is what started out as one of Steve's patterns from a few years ago. I changed the words on the lower half. Cut from 3/4" Red Oak using #5 Pegas MGT blades.

    Thanks. Some people say Red Oak is not a good choice for scrolling, but I have never had a problem with it - and the wife likes the look of it. I get all of my Red Oak at Menards.

    I don't remember if I ever shared this with everyone, so I'll do it now. I scroll sitting down so I made a super heavy stand. Air quality is huge for me as I work in my basement. I invested in a small Delta dust collector and have it hooked up to may sanders, chop saw, and router table. I have the 4" line from the dust collector split in two, one hose for the under side and one for the top side. The under side is "connected" to a catch box made from 1/4" BB, the top side is attached to a re-purposed arm for a desk lamp. Works for me. The Hegner airline is setup how I got it from a friend.

    I agree that Hegner saws cost a LOT! But you can find a used one for $500-600 or less like I did, you will have a saw that will probably out last you. Many Hegner's are 25 years old or more and still run like new. Are there things I wish they would improve? That's a big yes, (bigger table, top feeding) but I want a saw I can run just run today and tomorrow.

    One of my first sales on Etsy went to France. Selling price was $48 including shipping, but shipping cost me $42, add it the cost of supplies and wood, and I would have been better off using the piece for firewood. LOL Lesson learned.

    Maybe another factor on the type 1, type 2 debate: The type 1's were make a LONG time ago. Any benefit to them over the type 2's has long ago expired. They are a really old saw for that design and unless it has been rebuilt at least once with quality parts by someone who knew what they we doing, I don't see the benefit of even looking at one.

    customers - I had one that said she loved it, but wished it was larger. Huh??? I have the size clearly stated in the listing, if you would only look! Or ask for a custom item like that only bigger. Just can't please everybody.

    That's a newer machine: has the Quick Clam, front tension release, and the upgraded air line. I am trying to talk the wife into a road trip (we are in Wisconsin, LOL) I would jump on it if it were closer.

    I have been using a bench top drill press may by Wen for about 6 years. It was cheap and does everything I need.

    Quick project made from Mahogany. First time on 6 years of scrolling I seem to have lost a pattern, so I can't give credit to the designer. I have searched the village files, Steve Good, and all the others I use. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I added a small intarsia rose and petals to the top of a pivot box. Walnut bottom, Red Oak lid, with Poplar leaves and a Redheart rose. Got the rose pattern from another project and just made it smaller.

    I considered a jointer, but was warned that it is unsafe for boards shorter than about a foot. Having never used one, I assumed this was correct. I have a planer, but again short warped pieces are what I am dealing with.

    Sanding question: I am thinking of getting a Flat-Sander made by Stockroom Supply. Mostly I want it to flatten warped twisted wood to make cutting easier and give me a better fit. I am buying 4/4 wood from my local supplier and its not always perfect or it will warp sitting and waiting for me to use it. Any thoughts on this or should I invest even more and get a big drum sander?

    I liked the one I had. 3 speed floor shift, bucket seats. But oh man the rust!

    Try checking "document properties" under "file" to make sure its set to 8.5 x11.
