  1. Nice work Bobby!
  2. Without seeing the project, I would think a dark or medium dark wood like Walnut or Mahogany would look good.
  3. Excellent work as usual Rob!

    That's a hot bike Todd!
  5. Welcome to the Village Kip! Come on in and join the fun!
  6. I think it's time to start learning to make inside cuts. Instead of burning in the details, cut them out. Draw the detail in with a pencil, drill holes then cut them out!
  7. It's ok if you brag! Congratulations on sales!
  8. Nice cutting!
  9. Nice work Dick!
  10. Awesome work Randy!
  11. Here you go Kevin! Fresh off the saw. Pattern by Steve Good. 1-1/2" Mahogany cut with Olson skip tooth #5 blades (ran out of FD Polar blades). No finish yet. I usually sell two to four of these a year.
  12. Very nice Jim! The Oak and Walnut go together nicely!
  13. Quality work there Jim!
  14. Great work Ralph! The only advice I would give was given to you by Russell yesterday, and that is to make it larger. When I do portraits, I don't size them to available frame sizes. I make my own frames so I size the frames to fit the portrait.
  15. I love my vintage Stanley planes, but I wouldn't think about buying the modern ones.
  16. Very nice Dave!
  17. Not a golfer, but very nice work! The picture loaded sideways because you took the picture with the camera or phone sideways. I have experimented with this. Even if you rotate it in your photo editor, this site will post it in the orientation it was taken in.
  18. Those are nice Marg! I trust you stack cut these?
  19. Looks great Denny! I might have to try that one.
  20. Excellent work Marg! Your talent sure comes through on this one!
  21. We have a member who has cut sheet silver, I'm sure she will respond latter. I do know it is best to sandwhich the metal between two layers of plywood such as Baltic birch plywood. This is to help prevent deforming the metal while cutting. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  22. I was already into woodworking. Buying and reading every woodworking magazine available. Back then there were at least six. In some issues there were some scroll saw patterns. I always hated the fact that I couldn't do a project because I didn't have a scroll saw. So I asked Santa for one. That was over twenty years ago! It was a Dremel that required an Allen wrench to change blades. I found a pattern and tried to cut it. It was a disaster! I didn't know how to make it cut properly, so I put in a corner for about six months. Finally I found a scroll saw book by Patrick Spielman. From that book I learned about blades, blade tension, feed rate and saw speed. with proper blades and a little more knowledge, I cut that pattern. It came out a lot better than the first time! The rest as they say is history!
  23. It's funny how one blade works for some and not others. For me, FD UR blades just don't work for compound cutting, but Polar blades do. Regardless of blade type, it is still slow going cutting thick wood. You cant force the cut, you have to let the blade do the cutting. Blades don't last very long either. Depending on hardness of the wood being cut, I can get three to five bird houses per blade
  24. Sometimes simple is great, and this piece is great!
  25. Amazing work there Dan! I like them all but that tree of life piece is wonderful!
