    We have a member who has cut sheet silver, I'm sure she will respond latter. I do know it is best to sandwhich the metal between two layers of plywood such as Baltic birch plywood. This is to help prevent deforming the metal while cutting. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    I was already into woodworking. Buying and reading every woodworking magazine available. Back then there were at least six. In some issues there were some scroll saw patterns. I always hated the fact that I couldn't do a project because I didn't have a scroll saw. So I asked Santa for one. That was over twenty years ago! It was a Dremel that required an Allen wrench to change blades. I found a pattern and tried to cut it. It was a disaster! I didn't know how to make it cut properly, so I put in a corner for about six months. Finally I found a scroll saw book by Patrick Spielman. From that book I learned about blades, blade tension, feed rate and saw speed. with proper blades and a little more knowledge, I cut that pattern. It came out a lot better than the first time! The rest as they say is history!

    It's funny how one blade works for some and not others. For me, FD UR blades just don't work for compound cutting, but Polar blades do. Regardless of blade type, it is still slow going cutting thick wood. You cant force the cut, you have to let the blade do the cutting. Blades don't last very long either. Depending on hardness of the wood being cut, I can get three to five bird houses per blade

    Yup, I have some pieces on display at the Woodcraft store in Ventura, Ca where I am the scroll saw instructor. The problem is woodworkers don't want to buy other woodworkers projects. I have sold a few things, but mostly they are on display for encouragement.

    "Free doesn't come cheap". Now that would make a great pattern! Actually from what I hear, the Rapid Resizer is free to resize patterns on Steve's site only.
