  1. So Bobby, how did it go?
  2. Hey Todd. You say you finished with Watco Danish oil, but that is not a finish. What it does is it brings out the natural beauty of the wood, bit that is not a finish. You need to apply a topcoat. The topcoat will protect and seal the wood. By using a water based stain you did not need to use the Danish oil. I use a rattle can semi gloss lacquer. Poly will work as well as Shellac.
  3. Nice box Tammi!
  4. Nice work! It’s nice when you can use up leftover pieces.
  5. Looks great frank, very nice work!
  6. As Larry mentioned, the first link is cracked. Heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer and pop it off. Then heat the next one and pop it back on. Blow on it to cool it off and presto, it’s just like new!
  7. I’ve always been an advocate of using the factory stand for any saw as they are designed to Help inhibit vibration.
  8. Les, I use Pony strap clamp for my frames, but I think any brand strap clamps should do the job.the most important factor in frame making is making precise 45° cuts and just as important, is cutting each pair of sides exactly the same length. If one side is longer, even a fraction of an inch, the frame will not be square. As for glues that you show, I would use the Titebond, but any of the white Or yellow glues will work without any problems. I don’t bother reinforcing the corners as I glue the art piece into the frame.
  9. That’s a nice looking Jeep Dick, nice work!
  10. That’s a beauty Denny, very nice work!
  11. I’m coming out of the closet..... I do not use a foot switch. I never have and probably never will. Way back in the old days, we didn’t use foot switches! Actually, the way I sit for comfort while scrolling, a foot switch would be impractical. I keep my feet either on the center brace of the saw stand or on the footrest of my drafting chair. I’m comfortable using the saw switch and have never had an issue of having to instantly turn the saw off. Im sure there are others like me out there

The two of you did a wonderful job Matt!
  13. That’s very nice work Joe!
  14. Very nice looking portrait Don!
  15. Excellent work Mike! Do you do only portraits?
  16. Nice work Brent!
  17. You are right Pete. Very little if any need sanding. Sometimes woods like Aspen And pine have fuzzies that need sanding, but most hardwoods come out nice and smooth, at least for me.
  18. Nice work Dan! Like they say, one hole at a time.
  19. The point I was making is whatever it takes to get to 1 1/4” is the hardest part of making these.
  20. That’s a beauty Edward!
  21. Nice work Steve! I love the garden sign but I sure don’t welcome rabbits though!
  22. Excellent marg! The only difficult thing about them is finding or milling 1 1/4” wood. Marg, you did a great job on yours!
  23. Yes you can. For me, 24 hours is plenty of time for the 50/50 mix to dry. I use Deft semi gloss spray lacquer for my topcoats.
  24. Cool!
  25. That’s an interesting saying! Good luck Bobby!
