It’s looking great so far Dale! I went through a lathe phase myself a bunch of years ago. I turned hundreds of pens, bottle stoppers, bowls and everything else. I wasn’t selling at the time, so everything I turned I gave away, but I got over it!
Ben, I would not use felt or flocking to show through the top. Dust will settle on either material and will make it very difficult to clean. Sure it will look great for now, but a year down the road, it will have collected a lot of dust and will be almost impossible to clean.
I do one in October and one in November. Neither has officially cancelled yet, but I have decided that I’m not doing any shows this year. It’s just not worth the danger of it all.
Fred, that looks fantastic! Can you tell some cutting details? From here, it looks like there are 11 different pieces that are cut out and glued back in, or is it carved to make the effect ?

It kills me too see that hose clamp on that brand new saw. Removing the first section of the hose is easy to do!
