  1. here are a few birds I've cut over the years
  2. wonderful article
  3. correct Richard is great to deal with and he know more about wood than I care to know. If you get what I'm saying. He loves to talk
  4. Look up Richard's Craft Woods on the internet. This is where I buy all my thin stock from. His website may not be much to look at but he has high quality thin stock. He ships all over the US. I'm may be lucky since this shop is about a 10 minute drive from the house. Actually unlucky because every time I go out there I spend a ton of money.
  5. I normally demo at the Klingspor Wood Expo as well but with the Carolina Scrollers. We received a club update the other night on the show this year. Klingspor will be doing something this fall but they are not sure what. It will either be at the Hickory Convention center as in years past or it could be at the Hickory NC Store & plant location or they could do something at each of their store locations. They will make a decision in early June from what we were told. Everything will depend on Covid restrictions. I don't think their virtual show went over very well last year. When I get more updates on what they are doing I'll let you know.
  6. Here are some of the big cats I've done over the years
  7. thanks for the comments
  8. i want the grain to show through on the poplar. i use general finishes pre-mixed dyes.
  9. acrylic craft paint- 3 lite coats with a lite sanding between coats and then 1 coat of clear spray paint to add the gloss. No issues with fitting This was painted Baltic Birch plywood. I have 3 more puzzles cut out on poplar and will use dyes to color them. Brian
  10. Painter puzzle, 3 fender cars and skid loader
  11. The motor tends to get real hot during extended use. I think it is a waste of money. I just a variable speed bench grinder that I converted to a flexible drum sander by using the conversion kits from Judy Gale Robert's website. I use a Fordum power carver as well.
  12. off to a great start for it being your 1st one
  13. That was my panda Brian
  14. It was a great show. There where a few scrollsaw village members there and it was great talking to everyone. I’m already looking forward to the show next year. brian
  15. I have a whole shop dust collection system I put in a few years ago. Dust collector is in an outside closet and hard piped through the wall, across the ceiling & down to my tools. I a an air filtration unit hanging in the shop that picks up any fine dust that the collector does not pick up.
  16. I'll be there in the Carolina Scrollers booth as well. We are the ones hosting Steve Good. I will be doing the presentation on Intarsia both on Friday Morning & Saturday afternoon. If you have never been to this show it is one of the top shows around. But leave your wallet in the car or at home. There are a lot of good show sales. Best thing this year is a 12 thousand dollar door prize. Someone is walking away with a new woodworking shop from Klingspor.
  17. A few years ago I organized my pattern collection of intarsia patterns and if i do just each one 1 I have over 35years of patterns in my shop & on my hard drive. I have several hundred regular scroll saw patterns as well. I have limited myself to just getting new designs for intarsia that the designer come up with now. I'm a the pattern hoarder as well as a wood hoarder. Once you accept that then you are on the road to recovery.
  18. great find
  19. Been to busy at my real job so far this week. Hope to be doing my second job tonight shaping my latest piece of intarsia. Trying to wrap it up before we go on vacation in a couple of weeks.
  20. Here is my 2018 Grim Reaper that I completed this weekend. Walnut, Purple Heart, Aspen & Spalted Tamarin left off the magnolia
  21. turned out very nice
  22. I wear ear protection with my planer, joiner & table saw but not the scroll saws. Not worried about Dust sense the entire shop is on a dust collection system and the unit itself is in a shed outside.
  23. my Dewalt had a ziplock bag over the switch area and i never had any issues with dust getting into the switch compartment.
  24. i sit at either saw that I'm cutting at unless it is a quick cut or the piece being cut is so large i have the move around to manage the cut sense i don't use spiral blades. Brian
  25. I use it in my walkways in my raised garden area. works great to keep the bugs out of the area as well as the weeds.
