  1. I have all this along with my scrollsaws, table saw in a small basement. It's taken my 6 years to get to this point. Been thinking about the 1 inch vertical belt sander, just gotta figure out where to put it. Also considering some kind of mop sander too. Everything is set for me to sit down as I'm not able to stand for extended periods of time.
  2. Me too! (lol) my honey do list keeps my "shop" time short, but now that I pretty much got the sanding area set up I should make better progress.
  3. I got this from JGR's website. It lists the speed range as 500 to 7,000 rpm's
  4. I know things are busy for everyone with summer here and all. But I wanted to share my sanding and shaping station. I believe I finally have it to where I want it. Only took my 6 months (lol). But now everything is within reach and projects on the table. The Foredom is removable so I can use the dremel and the vac takes care of most all of the dust. Now I just need time to work on things. The Raptor has been on the sanding table for over a month now (ugh!)
  5. I have the same problem, wood choices that are different, takes me way too long to settle on "my" choices. Looks great! Excellent choices in wood!
  6. Excellent work as usual, looks great, love the color!
  7. Thanks to all for your input. My thoughts on the glue and such are confirmed, Just exploring options as would prefer to be in daylight instead of a cave.
  8. I'm not really big on moving outside, took a while getting the basement to where I almost got it where I want it scrolling wise. Moving outside I'd be starting all over again with set up and such, not to mention the temp swings. But I keep knocking my head into the floor joists and HVAC duct work. My wife says I should get a hard hat (lol). Which is what lead me to ask here on dealing with cold. But I agree with you , I'm concerned on what the temp swings would do to the saw.
  9. Looking great!
  10. I'm in central Michigan and currently working out of my basement which has a ceiling height of 5'10" and I'm 6'4". So I completing getting a shed outside for my scroll shed. (tired of wacking my head when I'm in the basement lol). I'm not worried about the summer months, but during the cold months, do you keep the heat going all winter say around 55 when you're not there of turn the heat off? And if you turn the heat off do you take the glues and such inside when you're done for the day?
  11. I'll make sure to do that next time. Thanks for the info
  12. Wasn't sure where to put this, but I got a box of seconds from Ocooch and there's one I just can't figure our. So I'm looking for any help on what kind of wood this is. I can tell it heavy and hard like red oak. And cuts like oak. My thought was white oak, but the grain just doesn't fit for me. Your thoughts?
  13. @Liz Weir, at least now the saw has a good home and will get used!
  14. Absolutely awesome work. I gotta ask, where can I get the patterns from? Searched best I could, couldn't locate them.
  15. I've actually been wanting one of these since 2000. I never had the funds to afford a new one so I was always on the lookout for a used one. With cell phones, Facebook and marketplace, the search got easier but never in my area. When this popped up on my feed you could have knocked me over with a feather. Kept checking it thru the day to see if it was a fluke. Finally messaged the guy. When I went to get it he told me I was the first to respond and it had been listed for 7 days. Truly my lucky day!!!
  16. @preprius I like the dust collection you have there. I'll be adding that to mine! Thanks
  17. Thanks all for the info, definitely welcomed. I'm still in the cleaning and adjusting stage. I have done a couple of test runs and the set screw knob on the top blade holder disintegrated in my hand, so I'll be contacting Bushton tomorrow for a replacement. Think I'll replace all the screws with knobs. One question, after 2 good cleanings of the table my rag, and the bottom of the wood is still turning black. I'm guessing it's because it sat so long unused. I've scrubbed it twice and while the amount of black has diminished, it's still there. What can I use to clean the table better?
  18. Well, needless to say the saw came home with me. But here's the rest of the story...... When I got there the guy selling it (late 30's I guess) met me at his parents house, where the saw was. They had it out in the driveway. It looked like it was brand new, no marks on the saw top at all The guy selling it told me he bought it to do craft shows, but couldn't get the saw to "cut right" so he put it in the garage and bought a new Dewalt 788. He got the saw from an older lady who told him her husband bought it new, used it for about a month then passed, it had been setting in the shop since then. First thing I checked was the triangle piece (pic) to ensure the corners were still sharp, not rounded, thanks @OCtoolguy for that. As you can see it's looks new to me. All plugged in, took me a bit to get the blade in the lower mount, got it in there, applied the tension lever, turned it on. The thing took off about a gazillion miles an hour, things were slapping and making noise like it was flying apart. I'm glad I spent last night watching videos on this saw as I knew immediately it was way out of adjustment. So I released the front tension, adjusted the rear tension, it was way off!. Speed was full on fast, turned that down to just up from the slowest setting. Rear tension set, front tension set, turned it on.... Like a different saw, turned the speed up to about 1000 ram's and what a real pleasure. Extremely quiet, the "mom" commented it was quiter than her sewing machine. The guy selling it said "wow" it never ran like that. So, I turned it off, paid the guy and loaded it up! Smiling all the way home.
  19. LOL, that's what I was thinking, kinda funny when you think about it. Heading over in about an hour to check it out.
  20. Well, after doing some more research and thanks to @kmmcrafts and @OCtoolguy along with the Bushton web site I've learned quite a bit about the saws. Rather impressive. So I going to go check it out within the next couple of days and if everything looks as good as it does in the pics, and it runs good it will be coming home with me! Chris
  21. While looking deeper into it, I thought it looked like the tension level was in the back of the saw, was that correct? And I'm guessing they are pretty much vibration free?
  22. Gotta say I'm really on the fence with this, back in the day when I was still fairly new this was the saw I REALLY wanted, but life prevented me from getting it. But now my Delta P-20 set the bar pretty high, and this one is somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years old......What to do?
  23. This popped up very near me. $300 Thoughts? I don't know much about them. Any idea in the size?

    Scroll Saw Inlay

Hey Dave, Nice video, very well done and helpful. It certainly helps me better understand inlay. Thanks
  25. I totally agree. I'm not a fan of the knobs on the King and all saws that use that blade holder which is why I so reluctant to move on from the P20. I know Delta has new models, haven't looked at them too serious, but I sure do like the blade holder!
