  1. There is never ever a Papa Bear around a Mama Bear and her cubs. Always a Mama Bear and two or three cubs. Why? Only da shadow know! bb
  2. I designed the big bear several years ago and it was not a popular seller so I discontinued it. Then someone suggested an addition! So now we have bear and cub. We'll see how that sells at our next show in Georgia bear country. It's about 11" long and cut from walnut.
  3. You said you had offers. How much did they offer? I can tell from experience with puzzles that "whimsical" sells. I think cartoons would be a good seller but then you need to consider the copyright factor unless you design your own. I have purchased images for small change and use them for puzzles. Just need to check out their licensing agreements and make sure you can sell what you make. Best advice of pricing: charge what the market will bear. Mr Market knows all. I know that's not much help but you will just have to test the waters. bb
  4. Scott, Hope you do really well at the show! Looks like you have a new display! Btw, good decision on our part to cancel out. We're still getting orders from the Berea, KY show we did mid July. In fact a record number of state wildlife puzzles were sold. And the orders keep coming!. Keep us informed about Cary. bb
  5. Cut what? I have never been able to cut puzzles from 1.5" hardwoods on a DeWalt, Hegner, or hawk! If someone can do it I wanna know what blades they use! Seriously! bb
  6. Scott, I would have had competition! http://scrollingfantasy.design4complexity.com/scrolling-fantasy.html And he is doing a little of what you do too. bb
  7. Jerry, Are you using 77 for a temporary or permanent bond? I now use 3M "45" for temporary bonds as I was having problems with Elmer's repositioning adhesive. bb
  8. Iggy, you always have fantastic events! I never thought of us as competitors as we have very different items. Let us know how Lazy DAze goes this year. LAzy DAze is a class show! One of the few that gives refunds if you cancel within a certain time frame. bb
  9. 'Had a great time at the Berea, Ky craft show last weekend. Also a very successful show for us re sales. I'm attaching some pics. I took 8 of the KY wildlife puzzles and sold out the first day. Took an additional 10 orders on day 2 and 3 and will ship when ready. The race horse did well too - see Bragging Rights topic for image. The show had lots of helpful volunteers who helped us unload and load up at end of show. Very well organized show. bb
  10. I've always ordered business cards from: https://www.printsmadeeasy.com/ Always have received quality business cards! They even had a puzzle logo which I incorporated. bb
  11. As we say in GA, it's only noise. Be sure to thank the boss for being so thoughtful. bb
  12. Excellent results! Wish I had local events here like you do. maybe I need to rent a couple months on the same NC beach and set up shop! bb
  13. Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I'm taking 7 (lucky number) to the show. It's a 3 day show but you never know what the crowd will like. Plus there is a tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic now! Big question: Should I put the #7 on the puzzle? JUSTIFY was #7 when he won the Kentucky Derby this year! Also Preakness and Belmont but different #'s. Also taking my original KY commonwealth wildlife puzzle (hopefully attached). Almost made a mistake by calling it a state puzzle bb
  14. We're going to Berea, KY next weekend for a craft show and I needed a race horse puzzle! So I went to the internet and found a royalty free illustration which I used in conjunction with Judy Peterson's horse puzzle (FOX Publications) and came up with this design. bb
  15. I have seen some hardcover books that had a portion of the paper cut out in the middle - it was used as a home safe for jewelry! bb
  16. from a 2/28/2018 press release: "....Under the deal, Lowe’s will become the only nationwide home center to offer the stain brands Minwax, Cabot and Thompson’s Water Seal; as well as paintbrush brand Purdy and spray paint Krylon. In other words, these brands will not be available at Home Depot, the nation’s other “nationwide home center.” No change was announced to the distribution of these products through other channels, such as convenience hardware or building supply dealers."
  17. I didn't order so don't have a clue about arrival date. bb
  18. The trunion has some play when tightening the two screws. Make sure they are aligned correctly and not skewed. I just assembled my Delta and it runs smooth. Also, the washer thingy has a little protrusion that must go into the knob. Then tighten down by hand. No extra pressure required. bb
  19. $64 is reasonable. I've seen them for $90 elsewhere. bb
  20. Pegas Blade Chuck Heads fit these scrollsaws: Pègas Models SCP16, SCP21 & SCP30 Excalibur Models EX16, EX21 & EX30 Axminster Trade Series EX-16, EX-21 & EX-30 Carbatec Models CTEX-16CEC, SS-400C, CTEX-21CEC, SS-530C, CTEX-30CEC & SS-760C Excelsior 16", 21" & 30" Seyco ST-21 Jet JWSS-22 Steve Good also installed these Chuck Heads on a DeWalt 788 but said Pegas does not support that application. Now I'm wondering if there is any way to install on Hawk or Hegner saws? It sure would make blade changing easier! bb
  21. Forget what I said about purchasing the extra 3 year warranty for $60. The saw comes with a 5 year warranty!!!!! When I bought my Delta last month I assumed it had only a 1 yr warranty (like the DeWalt). I was wrong. bb
  22. I have no idea about the arms as I haven't seen what is inside.
  23. You are one lucky scroller! bb
  24. I extended the rear part of the 788 stand with a piece of plywood. The Delta is now in place and runs really well. What a relief not to deal with blade breakage and changing blades on my Hawk and Hegner! I didn't know this when I bought the saw but it has a 5 year warranty! bb
  25. I tried placing my new Delta saw on my old 788 stand. No dice. The Delta saw has a longer base than the 788. I should be able to extend either the front or rear of the 788 stand to accommodate the Delta saw. bb
