  1. I had a Delta P20 scroll saw with belt drive and changing speeds was quick and easy. The Delta also had an O ring type belt that was a piece of cake to roll over to a different set of pulleys. That feature would not deter me one lick because as others have said changing speed is not something I do all that often. JMHO
  2. Now that right there is funny! The flag looks great now don't mess with it. Just kidding.
  3. Holy Moly, now that project took a while to cut and it turned out great! Thanks for showing us.
  4. That works really well per the request. Nice work Thanks for showing us.
  5. Keith that turned out beautiful! My son a 20 year Navy Veteran would love it. Thanks for showing us.
  6. Nice pattern and cutting Paul. Native American is my favorite kind or art I have a whole room of it. Charles Dearing has some great Native American patterns too. Thanks for showing us.
  7. Great workmanship Larry! Works of art like that just don't come along every day. It's easy to see you enjoy your labors. A truly beautiful heirloom. Thanks for showing us.
  8. Les, I was aware that the Pegas super skip blades have less teeth per inch than FD polar blades simply because the Pegas super skips are just that, a skip tooth blade. What I was trying to find out is what anyone's opinion is that has tried them. I was curious if the resulting cut was smooth enough for cutting compound ornaments. Thanks for your reply.
  9. I don't know If they would be more aggressive than your Olson skip tooth blades but Pegas does advertise them as an aggressive blade. I have to believe they would be more aggressive than FD polar blades simply by the difference in the blade design. Maybe someone will chime in with more info.
  10. Yea Paul if your magnifier lights are anywhere near an east, west, or south window it would probably be a good idea to put the covers back on.
  11. Thank you Melanie , I will probably do as you suggest. I looked at the Pegas super skip and thought the design of the blade with extra space between the teeth looked like it might work well in thicker hardwoods I use for compound ornaments. I am no blade expert by any means and thought maybe someone here had tried them. I have been using the Pegas modified geometry for a while and really like them for other purposes. Thanks again for your reply.
  12. Just bumping this back up because I would really like to know what anyone thinks about Pegas skip tooth blades without reverse teeth. I have to order some blades and I'm undecided on which ones more FD polars or Pegas skip tooth.
  13. Just wondering If anyone has tried the Pegas Super Skip blades for cutting compound ornaments. I know Flying Dutchman polar blades are used by many but just curious.
  14. Hi Travis, are you the creator of the sled pattern Carol Pilgrim posted recently in Bragging Rights.   If so would that pattern be available?

I think that's from Sheila Landry.  I did the candy cane.

  15. Hi Carol,   Do you know if the sled pattern by Travis Cook is available?

    Stoney aka Al

  16. I like them allot, especially the sleds.
  17. Great piece of work! Thanks for showing us.
  18. A beautiful piece of work. Thanks for showing us.
  19. Congratulations on your new Hegner. I have the same saw only mine is a 2008 model. I have found it to be a very well built reliable saw. Like others have said there is a learning curve with a Hegner as there is with any scroll saw. One thing I have found with mine is the amount of blade tension required is higher than other saws I have owned. I have also made some modifications to my saw that make it more user friendly.
  20. Ray, I don't think you can really trust most tool brands any more. The big companies buy them up then decide they don't really want them so they resell them to the highest bidder customers be damned! I have several Delta woodworking tools they no longer support. Your only hope is finding third party parts and pay up. Good luck!
  21. Just had to bump this back up. I want to thank grampa for a very funny post.
  22. Very nice. Lots of layers lots of cuts. You have been very busy. Thank you for showing us.
  23. Ray not trying to be a smart aleck but it looks more like you are storing your unit than using it. I think if you chain hung the unit where you can get better air circulation it would operate much more efficiently. Just sayin.
  24. Heat gun does wonders for loosening adhesives. I use one quite often to remove labels.
  25. If your not in a big hurry I would suggest checking Craig's list I just bought a Wilton 14" model 8201 in very good condition for $300. The seller then loaded the saw on a trailer and delivered it right into my shop. It is made by the same company that makes Jet, and Powermatic saws. In fact it is the same saw as a Jet 8201K that sells for in the $1500. range. It has a gear box, range 39 to 3300 sfpm, and can be used for wood or metal. I don't intend to cut much metal with it but it has the capability if the need arises. You didn't say new or used but if you are patient there may be a good deal to be had.
