    I made this plaque out of a composite decking material so that it will hold up well outside in the elements. I bought it at Lowe's which stocks it in 1"x12"x96". I used a piece of the same material for the backer. It ended up thick and heavy. I was afraid if I planed it it would dull my blades. I am pleased with the outcome. It is hard on scroll saw blades..

    I have mentioned before that I enjoy special orders because they are all different.........this is definitely no exception. My customer said they plan to put it on the floor inside the entry door of their house. I used maple and walnut. The inlay was a challenge for me because the plaque is only 8" long......the lettering is pretty darn small.

    A lot depends on how much you use your saw. Currently I have a Dewalt. I like the saw........it is not built for the amount of scrolling I do. I scroll about 6 hours a day. My first saw lasted 9 months. I got a new one under warranty. It is about 6 months old and showing some wear. I will upgrade this fall. Good luck on you decision.
