  1. Marg, Did you replace the bellows?
  2. Jim, You sure are getting good at this. Love it!
  3. I would love to be able to get 4x8 bb .........5x5 sheets are a pain to handle.
  4. Gordie, You have been super busy.
  5. Try it again with thinner wood. Try two pieces of 3/8. Be careful because it is addicting.
  6. That came out super Jim!
  7. Thanks Larry, I sprayed the backer with black lacquer and then glued the plywood on then sprayed the entire thing with clear.
  8. I've used oak 1/4 MDF plywood a lot.
  9. You made a simple picture into a piece of art. You had a great vision for that piece of wood.
  10. Great job Dick! I sure don't know why you gave up making patterns.
  11. Jim, I think it looks great. I think the backer needs to be a different color so there is more contrast with the dear head. I am far from an expert but I like it when someone critiques my work and gives me suggestions.
  12. Welcome! Never hesitate to ask question. We all learn from each other.
  13. Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I like doing projects like this in the winter when nothing else is pressing. Takes me close to two days to make this style of box.
  14. Great job Kevin. You sure have been busy.
  15. Charlie, Beautiful piece of wood.
  16. I tape my pattern together and then glue it on the wood.
  17. Awesome job Kris. I hope you stack cut it. I would send one to the Reid and Mahomes.
  18. Paul, That is an incredible box. Adding the feet was a great idea! They really look good.
  19. Les, Very cool.......I like it so much I had to buy the pattern.
  20. I do all the inlays on my scroll saw. On this project I used a magnifier lite because the pieces are so small. Entry holes in walnut are easy to fill and cover up. I used a #1 blade and a #65 drill bit so there isn't much to fill. You don't have to have special software to put pictures onto Facebook. You can add them there just like you do here. I use Gimp and Inkscape for making patterns. Thanks for your kind comments.
  21. I must say that I am getting better. I figured out that the main problem I was having was that I was not holding my puffer close enough. One kit is enough to do a few boxes. I have watched about every You Tube on flocking and everyone is taping the top edge of their box off. It is working best for me not to tape and have a rag with mineral spirits handy to wipe off the top edge. The glue comes off easy being your box is finished first. If you have cracks of any size you want to fill those. After you flock it don't rush it. Put it up on a shelf for a couple of days before you dump it an blow it out. Everyone has their own opinion on flocking. My wife doesn't care about it but I have a lot of customers ask for it. Good luck. I know it is scary doing such a beautiful box especially how much time you have in it.
  22. I love using maple and walnut. I wish walnut wasn't so darn expensive.
  23. RJ, I do not have a web site but I put all my projects on a FB page. https://www.facebook.com/ScrollingMemoriesbydave/
  24. I modified Steve Goods pattern.
  25. Awesome job Charlie! Love it.
