  1. Last Monday, I ordered a basket pattern set from Scroller. I never ordered from them before, because they don't seem to give the designers credit. The patterns came in the mail yesterday and I had to make one. I made this small basket without the lid. It measures approximately 5" x 5 1/2" x 3" high. I used 1/2" Hard Maple, FD UR #1 blades, and finished with spray Shellac. I ordered some 3/8" stock to make some of the large baskets. Comments welcome.
  2. Very well done, Paul. Someone said I should raise my prices, but if I make something to buy more wood, it is worth it.
  3. Welcome to the forum from Tennessee. Scrolling can be very therapeutic. Glad you are on the mend.
  4. Busy Hands are Happy Hands. Very well done.
  5. Mine would say "Born and Left"
  6. Tim, that is the problem I have with Scroller. I like to give the designers credit.
  7. That sure looks good.
  8. Ray, that looks very good, especially for a first try. As for blades, I use FD Polar #7 or #9. Making those turns with a thick blade is difficult, but with practice can be done. I would not go to a thinner blade on 2" stock. The 'Hot Wood' is from friction with the blade on wood. I use packing tape to hold the project together and lubricate the blade. Not sure about the jumping, but a reverse blade might cause the jumping, also if you are using a clamping system, clamping too tight van be a problem.
  9. Thanks for all the nice comments
  10. Thanks Steve, when I get a few more finished, maybe a mobile.
  11. There are twelve in the set, patterns by Keith Fenton and found in CWWC June 2013. I had a lot of tear out as seen in the first picture, so next time I will use a backing. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood and FD UR #1 blades. I may make a mobile out of these. Comments welcome.
  12. Thanks Gordie. Well done on that portrait and frame.
  13. I too like special orders, especially at our frame shop. People bring in the most unusual items to frame. Our biggest was a full size guitar with photographs and a whiskey bottle.
  14. Wow, that is super, Michael.
  15. Thanks Todd. Nice comments are always appreciated.
  16. As a custom framer, we use the D hangers and wire. There are different hangers and wire up to 100 pounds. There is also a product called 'Wall Buddies' which attach to the top on both corners.
  17. Living here in TN where the 'Trail of Tears' began, the term 'stripped from them' is very appropriate.
  18. Welcome to the forum from TN. Keep one of your first projects. That way you can see your progress.
  19. Welcome to the forum from TN. One of my favorite designers, Sue Mey, is from S A.
  20. Welcome to the forum from TN. Lots of friendly folks here.
  21. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I found out that Charles Dearing has a pattern also, but I am sure it is much more complicated.
  22. Thanks Gordie. I got the pattern from "Wild West Scroll Saw Patterns"
  23. That looks super, Brian. A lot of cutting.
