  1. Just finished. Pattern by the Village’s H. Botas.
  2. I have a benchtop drill press that I use for probably 90% of what I do. It'll chuck down to hold a 1/16" bit. I do also have the Seyco Scroller's Drill and it works well when needed.
  3. Thank you!!!
  4. Nice Job, but oooofff.... I can smell this picture!!!
  5. My aunt asked me to make an Urn for her beagle, Buddy, who passed a while ago. Dark walnut box, with a scrolled front. I think the pattern came from The Wooden Teddybear.
  6. Hard to say. Most of the fires are in the sparcely populated northern reaches of Canada, and I'm not sure just how much logging is allowed and how much actually gets done up there. We do get a lot of smoke every summer from Canadian fires, but it usually doesn't get bad until late July-August, so it's pretty unusu al to have it this early.

    Wheat

I haven't heard that, at least not yet. I can tell you that a good chunk of Montana and North Dakota is off to a great start on this years' crops, and we raise a lot of wheat and durum. I have heard that western Kansas is a complete disaster due to drought. Very little to none of their winter wheat survived, and many are replanting into millet to try and salvage their year. Farmer are at least happy that prices have finally come up. But you have to have something to sell to take advantage of it!
  8. Welcome from a fellow Montanan. I look forward to seeing your work!
  9. I had a recent request to rebuild a couple of knife handles for a local fisherman. This is the first time I've used epoxy, both as a filler, and a finish. I definitely learned a lot, mostly what not to do. The fill turned out really well, but the finish did not. The wood is Russian Olive.
  10. Thank you Everyone!!!
  11. Wait, the Ronco is for when the car is parked??? I wonder if Dad knew that...
  12. They should be visible from both those states. I spent a summer in upstate New York, and if you could get away from the light pollution, sometimes they were visible. The bigger question is will they be out while you are there. And as Barb mentioned, you can do a google search to see if there are any predictions.
  13. A Neighbor gal took this pic in NE Montana. Pretty impressive display!!!
  14. Just a clarification, start with SSI before calling your Credit Union. Social Security checks directly deposited into your account are ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions. Essentially, they are electronic payments, not physical checks. Once they show up on the Credit Union's ACH list, they are diverted into the correct account that day. Financial Institutions are required to make those funds available the day they show up. My point is that the Credit Union will have no further information than you already do as to why the date was changed.
  15. Tough Day by Mike Williams.
  16. Beautiful!!!
  17. Combination of fretwork and intarsia. Oak plywood base, birch ply letters and 4-H symbols, and russian olive trunk. 30x24”. This year the local 4-H club is dedicating the award to it’s namesake. Next year, it will award one 4-Her by adding their name to a leaf. It was an honor to be asked to do this one as I was one of Bobbie’s 4-Hers years ago.
  18. They are probably trying to get away from all the Californians, Oregonians, and Washingtonians moving in here!
  19. I recently received an order to do a Thank You gift for a graduation speaker. So I did another Montana barnwood wallhanging, with the county highlighted. One logo the speaker's alma mater Bluejay (that school is no longer in existence), and the other is Graduating class's Wildcat, which is where the speaker had his first job before moving on to becoming an amazingly successful collegiate basketball coach.
  20. Wonderful Job!!! I think I wore out that VHS tape growing up.
  21. Welcome! Good to meet a fellow Montanan in here, although we're about as far apart as possible. Looking forward to seeing some of your projects.
  22. Prayers and best wishes Kevin. Take care of yourself!!! This place isn't the same without you!
  23. That's amazing. Well done!
