  1. Welcome!
  2. Congrats!!! That is awesome!
  3. I meant to do this last fall before we moved, but it just didn't get done. So, now I'm playing catch up before my nephew turns one here in March. His room is decked out in Lime green and gray, so I painted the backers to match. Worked really well to stack cut all 4 designs and backers together.
  4. Along with Dust collection, the only thing I'd add to the Jet is a zero clearance table insert.
  5. Welcome. Nice work you've got. What do you not like about the Jet? Just curious because I really like mine.
  6. Welcome!
  7. Awesome work!
  8. Welcome. Looking forward to seeing some of your work.

  11. Well Done!
  12. Yup, it is. I'm not too familiar with Vermont either. But I've been doing wall hangings like this for the past couple of years. I've done quite a few Montana's, of course. And have a North Dakota and a Kansas, too. I get the free maps each state puts through their tourism departments and use that as my pattern. It works quite well and I can get the edges as precise as possible. I will say, some states make it easier to get a map than others. Vermont and Kansas were quite easy through their tourism websites. For Montana and North Dakota I simply visit the closest gas station and they have free maps set out. I've had someone ask about California, so I tried. I still haven't been able to find one there, but that person seems to have forgotten about it too. It drives me nuts to look at Etsy and some of these other sites and see what some are passing off as state wall hangings. Some are nothing really like the actual state shape. The only real problem I have is that the size of some, such as Montana, make them a nightmare to ship.
  13. Welcome from NE Montana.
  14. Just finished up my first project in the new shop. This is the only one I agreed to complete and ship before Christmas. It's also my second only Etsy related sale, and is a repeat customer from my first Etsy sale.
  15. Beautiful!

    Jet JWSS-22B

I've had my Jet for about a year now, and I love it. I did not get the stand, but used one I built. I did have to add a few braces as this saw is much heavier than my old Delta saw. But once the braces were added, the vibrations disappeared. I really like how quick and efficient the upper clamp is. It does require some fine tuning on the tension knob from time to time if you are switching between blade sizes. But that was the same on the old saw too. The large table is wonderful to have and having a top arm that raises out of the way makes blade changes easy. However, I can see that if someone is a top feeder, this saw will not work. The lower clamp comes out of the lower arm assembly and you use the slot on the blade holder to insert a new blade in to the clamps. If you use all the clamps, you can have two extra blades ready to go. With the way the upper clamp works, both grabbing and tensioning the blade in one motion, there is no way to leave the blade in the upper clamp and disconnect it from the lower clamp.
  17. That's it. I'm staying in Montana, where we have no sales tax. It all sounds too damned complicated to mess with. You all are welcome to come join me. Since I assume most of us are paid in cash (under the table), the income tax shouldn't be much of an issue.
  18. Welcome. Looking forward to seeing your work!

  22. Welcome!
  23. I have seen a video about doing just that. I think it was on youtube and made by the company selling the router bit. They had an entire homemade jig to mount the board into. With their special 4" router bit, you would move the router back and forth in it's cradle and plane the board from one end to the other. I'm sure the router they used was bigger than yours. The whole contraption was similar to some of the homemade CNC set ups you see.
  24. Wow. Great job!!!
