I inherited a professional solder/ glue dispenser when a hearing aid amp manufacturer I worked for went under. It is a pneumatic syringe dispenser. It allows you to control the amount of glue dispensed and has controllable suckback No drips! The unit was very! expensive back then. It is a EFD 1000 XL probably cost the company close to $2000. They still want crazy money for a refurbished unit, I just found a clone on Amazon that looks exactly like it. It is foot pedal controlled and can be set to continuous or timed dispense. I just have to find a reasonable source for the syringes. Denny, great job as usual! Alex has some amazing designs and I have cut a few of them. The biggest challenge to me is the assembly. I have a tendency is to skew to one side. I built myself an alignment jig with a turntable. Also glue squeeze out.

I usually do but was in a hurry and took a shortcut. I usually use the Zinser sanding sealer and on occasion the the acrylic sealer on painted ornaments.

I love those ornaments Kevin! Out of desperation I broke a cardinal rule and copied a design I found on the web. We were invited to the neighbors house for Christmas dinner and I needed a special gift. They are avid campers. So I found this image made a pattern then laser engraved it. The burn lines helped with paint bleed . I also incorporated their graphics. I then cut a single layer of 1/8 bb (pegas 28TPI skip tooth)on the scroll saw, then painted. Still had a bit of paint bleed.

The hot glue is a clever idea! Would love to see a picture of the finished set.

Did you cut just the outer profiles of the Reindeer?

I love that little reindeer inside. I would assume that you put that in after the main cut.

I have my saw via the foot pedal plugged into the auto start outlet on my Festool, so it starts when the saw starts. On the Hawk that did not work so I connected my foot pedal to an Outlet strip and plugged the saw and vac into it.

Why Seyco and not the Pegas? If you do any bevel cutting the Seyco has a limited range. and the Pegas has the better clamps. Then again Ray has one of the best records when it comes to support. Interesting that you mention the Hawk. I am working on a Charles Hand design and was cutting it on my EX 16. I decided to do it on my Hawk G4 26 instead. I have the old delta quick clamps on it and more room.

I did not want to Highjack the thread on compound cutting clamps. I cut lots of them especially at our clubs woodworking shows and give them to the kids. Occasionally I will show off the capabilities of the scroll saws for cutting small stuff. The smallest reindeer in this image is a bit less than 1/2" and the smallest and most delicate compound cut for me so far. I used a Pegas #2 28TPI blade no reverse teeth. The trees are turned and carved. I did not sand any of them.

Are the deer and the tree part of the cut or added later?

Too much fiddling with the clamps, Although I do use them on occasion. When I do I use clamps I use Don in Brookline's technique. 99 % of the time I just do a wrap of Clear packing tape after cutting the first side just to keep the bits in place. Simple and fast.

I find it is always easier to cut across the grain.

I had to do a repair to the gel coat on my boat a few years ago. So I bought a couple of these detail spray guns. They were a bout 8$ with a coupon back then. I figured if the gel set before I could clean the gun I would just toss them. I agree with you Kevin I really like the layered designs but hate consuming all of that BB for one project.

My basement shop is relatively small and the my Festool Midi has a very long cord, so when I need to use it for my RO or track saw I can just wheel it into the adjoining room. I run the Festool at low to mid range. I added the trap a must with all of the small pieces I cut. As you can see it catches a lot of stuff. I also added the union (swivel) so that I can easily swing the upper tube out of the way without messing with its adjustment. The picture of my suction tubes is an old one before I added the trap and swivel. the whole assembly is attached to my Hawk with a couple of Mag switches. So I can move the whole assembly to my EX 16 which I use for most of my smaller projects.

I did this project with my airbrush. The pieces are all beveled inlay and spray painted individually before assembly. The finish and uniformity was far superior to what I could do with a brush. I used Acrylics, some where already thinned for air brush use. But I did buy this stuff Vallejo Airbrush Thinner 200ml Paint a couple of drops mixed into the paint will really help with the flow. This stuff is also great for cleaning the gun. Iwata-Medea Airbrush Cleaner (16 Oz.) And yes the clean up is a pain.
