    Dick, thanks for your kind comments. The patterns I design and cut are things that interest me. I keep alternating between scroll saw projects and small boxes, especially things that present a challenge. I try to use forethought and go slow. I'm always looking ahead to the next cut to see if there are any "gotchas" before moving forward. I may try some more videos in the future. I may have another box project. Thanks again Dick.

    Just finished a 3/4 view of a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air convertible. I had been a request from Heppnerguy. As usual, the design took longer than the cutting. 8 day/4 day. Plaque is 17 x 10 on BBPW with 1/4" backer. I also did a video of the project that I am still editing and because of the size, I will have to post on YouTube. I'll update this posting once I'm done.     Many years ago my wife and I visited Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is one of the most scenic and historic walled cities in Germany. The view is of the Rotor Tor (gate) and we had the opportunity to walk around the top of whole wall. It's a magical place full of timber frame houses and interesting shops. It' a project I had thought about doing for a long time. I started the design 12/17 and didn't start the cutting until 3/7. I gave myself some time to work on it and had to walk away a few times. There were a lot of holes! Things were kind of fragile too. Keeping pieces in place helped retain the strength until I was finished. Love Blue Tape!! I finished it today. Dimension is 17 x 12 on BBPW. Finish is Semi-gloss lacquer and I made a custom frame to fit. I must say that it was one of my most challenging scroll saw projects but I'm glad I did it.

    I am not familiar with the RBI Hawk but after 15 years there may be some sawdust in the rheostat. That may make it work intermittent. If you can get to it, blowing it out with compressed air or one of those air cans used to clean computer keyboards. Found an interesting youtube video that explains rheostats/potentiometers and possible fixes but if you can't get to the "innards", it may be time for a replacement.

    As an addendum to making this, rather than cutting a groove with the table saw, use 2 each 1/4" stips and glue a 1/8" narrow strip between them to create the groove for the individual 1/8" plaques to side thru. Sand the edges of the plaques so they slide better. The tabs are just 1/4" pieces to fit and glued in place. I cut the fonts but text printed and glued on with contact glue will work also.

    The clock is only a "prop" for the checklist. Great project but who sells a clock kit with only a 6 hour mainspring???

    Just remember that excess alcohol at bed time can affect the accuracy of the checklist! Luckily, I haven't watered the back door lights yet! LOL!

    It's funny that the things you forget before you go to bed usually kick you in the butt in the morning! It seems I forgot to lock one of the two locks on the back door. Guess who reminded me about it in the morning. Decided to make a checklist (like my old Air Force days) to keep the complaining down. All strips are 3/4 x 1/2 and dadoed with a table saw blade width on the 1/2" sides. "Task" names were 1/8" BBPW scraps with Arial font. Red color is not ready, Green is good. I did abbreviate for front and back locks/lights and dog water. Made a French cleat to hang it. All quiet now!

    I use acrylic paint (usual 2 coats) for my backers. It dries very fast. Mostly black paint. Check my profile and attachments for some examples.
