  1. Get Well Soon. The saw dust is calling!
  2. The shellac is a sealer coat that also lifts any fibers even after previous sanding. I give it a very light sanding to clear those fibers away and allows for a smoother finish with the lacquer. Both lacquer and shellac dry very fast too.
  3. I thought I needed to add the B-17 Flying Fortress to my collection of Aircraft. My design was the typical pixel gobbling exercise. I tried to leave some shadow elements in the pattern. I did go smaller on this project since I am running out of wall space. It's 9 x 14 1/8 BBPW on a 1/4" backer shellac/lacquer finish.
  4. Absolutely Stunning! A true piece of art!
  5. I had to do another classic car, the 1941 Packard 180. It was the last pre war touring package with the 8 cylinder 180. The grills give this car an outstanding look but they are a bear to cut. Scoring with a straight edge always helps. The plaque is 19 x 12 on 1/8" BBPW on a 1/4 backer. I was going to try and cut the One Eighty and leave it attached but it was much easier to cut it on the left out piece and glue it on later. It took well over a week to get the design right and about 4 days (on and off) for the cutting.
  6. Both are nicely done! Really like the card.
  7. I am always impressed with the detail and quality of your work. Patience and perseverance are always rewarded with beautiful work!
  8. Great Job. always loved that car!
  9. Hi John, I had the same problem last year and did the helicoil repair. I explained it all in a thread " I had to do it" topic "thread repair". I also had the parts list for the kit in the thread. Contact me if you have questions.
  10. Dick, I'm glad you posted the Duesenburg. I told you that you did a great job. Now that you got the other compliments, will you believe me now? I enjoy seeing your work. BTW where is your Germany company coming from? My wife is from Trier.
  11. Thanks, It's all doable with a plan and going big. Keep the cutoffs in place with blue tape and it works! Orbital sand the whole back to remove fuzz. Before lifting the whole pattern, remove the blue tape first and the individual pieces will drop out. I use "off" with an acid brush to remove the pattern. It lifts off easy.
  12. Thanks Dick. I guess I explained the technique for the grill so it makes sense. I do love blue tape and going big helps!
  13. My sister and B-I-L were at the museum a few years ago and thought it was great. I recently saw a Toutube video on the museum also.
  14. I've got this thing with '30's cars. Found a picture of a 1936 Duesenberg. Love those big Drum Headlights, side exhaust pipes and grill. As usual, it took a whole lot longer to do the design (pixel Pacman) than the actual cut. I had to go big because of the grill. 19 x 12. I think I have the grill technique down. I score all the lines with a straight edge and a razor then stop the cut just below the top of the individual grills then tape everything down for support and then go back and cut out the rest. It made me nervous but it worked. Sequencing the cuts are important because there are a lot of large floppy pieces. Material was 1/8" BB with 1/4" backer. Another box may be next.
  15. Happy Birthday Ray. Have a great day! May the sawdust be with you!

  16. Fantastic job on your cutting! I know he will like it.
  17. I have bought a few of Charles patterns and my favorites are the 54 and 57 Studebakers. They have great detail and were fun and challenging to cut. Have looked around and have not seen them on Woodvisions.com site. He may have stopped selling them.
  18. That came out great. Nice work!
  19. I like it! Great Job!
  20. I did upgrade to 2 "D" batteries. It slowed it down but they still go down fast.
  21. You did a really great job. They can be fun to cut. I made several for my relatives. I may have added too many lights. They had 20 lites and they would suck down 2 AA batteries in no time. Ohm who?
  22. That is absolutely amazing.!
  23. Trading in the Lincoln? Ha! Surgery not bad at all.
  24. Thanks for the compliment. Shots in the eyeball! yikes! Good to hear it all works now. Cataract surgery is a hohum compared to what you must have gone through.
  25. Thanks Dick, Was at the eye Dr. today and new eye 20/20!! BTW you know.....
