  1. I am getting a fairly diverse collection of celebrities. I think 42 portraits now, some with several people in them. I noticed a few months ago that, unintentionally, all I had were white males. (Except for Aunt Bee in an Andy Griffith group ) I'm intentionally trying to diversify my collection in race and sex. I'm very excited that my son is adopting twins, a boy and a girl, from Haiti. I realized one day how my new grandchildren might feel if all they see is white men on my shop walls. Besides protecting their feelings, my shop is a happier place for it.
  2. Bought the pattern on Etsy and tweaked it a little. Also added the "3 little birds". He'll be living next to Willie. Figured they'll have something to talk about. 3/8" white oak with walnut backer. ***Richard commented below that I'm getting quite an array of celebrities in my collection. Wanted to share my reply so I can brag on my forth coming Hattian Grandkids. I am getting a fairly diverse collection of celebrities. I think 42 portraits now, some with several people in them. 3. Very nice. Great that you got to use your skills!
  4. That's beautiful. Very nice job!
  5. Don't know if you saw this quote I posted from Sam Cooke but it sums up Dylan's music pretty well. "Cooke explained that from now on, it's not going to be about how pretty the voice is. It's going to be about believing that the voice is telling the truth."
  6. Yeah I'd have to agree about his singing voice. I like this quote from Sam Cooke about Dylan's music. "Cooke explained that from now on, it's not going to be about how pretty the voice is. It's going to be about believing that the voice is telling the truth."
  7. I cut this same pattern about a year ago and gave it to my son. I decided I needed one on my shop wall too. The awesome pattern is by @Kris Martinson. It's cut in 1/2 red oak with a stained poplar backer.
  8. Top shelf work! I used to do a good bit of fly fishing in farming ponds around my home town. I'm a big fan of keyhole slots for hanging things flush. I keep a keyhole bit in my router table.
  9. Nice job. I'm sure they'll love it.
  10. Great job!
  11. Nice job! Good luck with your granddaughter!
  12. Great job. Way beyond my patience threshold.
  13. Nice job on all. Love em!
  14. Great job and I like the wood!
  15. Impeccable work as always!
  16. The Wet Bandits, aka Sticky Bandits. I'm grateful to Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern for 30 years of laughing as well as watching my children and grandchildren laugh at their work in the Home Alone movies Made this for my shop wall but I think I'll bring it in the house every December.
  17. Nice job! I love scrolling but try to avoid things like octagon frames. A man's got to know his limitations.
  18. I thoroughly enjoyed cutting @lawson56's excellent pattern. I used to watch MASH reruns on Sunday night after the news with my parents. Dad was a Southern Baptist Minister. I remember my dad said he preferred Colonel Potter to Colonel Blake because Blake was too silly to take seriously. Another memory was watching an episode where Hawkeye was about to leave in a jeep with Colonel Potter and was acting like they were taking off in a plane. He said, "Kick the chocks out from under the wheels. Flaps up! No offense Margret." My mom laughed. It may have been the only off color thing I ever heard her laugh at. I think it did me good.
  19. Nice job! Very happy looking piece.
  20. Nice useful project!
  21. Thanks. Yes, it's poplar. Not usually a fan because of the green tint but this piece was dark enough to look good.
  22. I love Rod Stewart's song Forever Young and thought these lyrics go well with this picture. May our children and grandchildren know this is true of how we feel about them.
  23. Very nice! I need to make one for the grandkids.
  24. That looks really cool in aluminum. Mine lives on an old barn door on the wall above my grill. Makes me smile to know he has an Aussie cousin.
