  1. Can't wait to see the set up Grats on the purchases
  2. I have lots of different clamps I use for frames and other pieces I like the band clamp the best so I have 4 of them - one is a simple ratchet clamp style the other 3 are bessy I got on sale at a great price I also use corner clamps for some pieces mostly to hold them together and squaring before I put other clamps on Frames I now exclusively use my bessy band clamps and I can make 4 frames at a time
  3. Very nice - I'm jealous LOL If I had a dedicated shop I doubt I would ever be able to organize it as well Thanks for sharing it
  4. My condolences regarding your friend - I've had to put down several over the years and it never gets easier! Great memento and shrine to your buddy!
  5. Question: Doesn't the pin protrude through the bottom stack piece? I would be concerned about scratching the table no?
  6. You know, I'm not saying this is the way it is but... That's the 3rd saw you bought and you still hear a knocking Are you mistaking the knocking for a normal sound? My saw has what you might call a knocking, but its the normal movement of the machine - heck you should hear it on 9 LO(L Why not record the sound and let us hear it.
  7. Thanks, I have a contractors saw the 36-725 I have tuned it very well - spent days getting it set up with Ytube vids So far no movement in the shaft on mine. It's accurate to about 1/64 which I can live with for my use
  8. So you're saying if the wobble occurs the whole motor needs to be replace?
  9. Thanks, I didn't know that - so much I still don't know, hence the moniker... new2woodwrk Mine has not as of yet exhibited the wobble - is there a way to correct that?
  10. Yep, that's what I did to mine as well I now have a 2nd rigid shop vac without wheels someone was throwing out and I picked up I put it on a HF dolly, changed the wheels to larger rollers and strapped it down so it's mobil
  11. I'm actually fairly proficient at hoarding and being a pack rat. I store a lot of wood pieces, sheets and boards. What I do is: Larger than 1/4" Sheets: Stand up in my shed outside. Not temperature controlled 1/8-1/4" BB: I keep inside in the box they came in. NW Florida has extreme weather changes so it's best inside 3/4" Boards: I keep standing up in the garage since I use these now more than anything and need them to be weather adjusted 3/4" Pieces: I keep these in 5 gal buckets by species. Misc. Boards: I have lots of misc boards such as left over trim, pallet breakdowns etc. I built a bunch of lumber rack inserts that I attached to the studs in my shed. I keep them there waiting for me to use. Small misc pieces (not normally used): I have a small area in my shop where I keep Cement forms. I stick them standing up in the forms and pull them out as needed Dowling: All are standing up in a corner in a 5 gal bucket I really like 5 gal buckets as they are easily stack-able in a corner once they fill up. I label them and when I need a piece of wood, I can just grab the bucket I need and take out what I need I'm still fine tuning my pack ratting as I'm throwing out too much decent wood and I don't have a fire place nor do I go camping!
  12. Gladly, I don't have any of that board - I avoid it at all costs if possible That said, I have not seen any that have a "smooth" backing. All the stuff around here is rough and feels like it is "shedding" when you run hand over it However, nicely done thinking outside the box for sure!
  13. Well it's the truth! Perhaps not believable to you but that is how it went,
  14. Mine has the motor inside - works like a charm and I use it a lot. Not as much as a professional, but often enough that I turn it on and run some wood through it at least twice a week, sometimes more.
  15. That is absolutely insane I purchased a new Delta a few weeks ago from Amazon, set it up on a new bench and it's purring like a kitten. The wife uses it every other day or so and we have about 60 hours on it already - no problems An interesting aside and maybe it's nothing but... When I purchased my Delta Table saw from Lowes, the first one I got was a piece of crap. The legs didn't fit and I was unable to get it together. I had to return it - and man that thing is really heavy It took the wife and myself and a hand truck to get it in the car LOL. After returning it they had to have one sent from Delta (they were out) directly to me and I've had it ever since Maybe it's Lowes? I have not had good luck with power tools purchased from them at all Just thought I'd put that out there
  16. Fairly decent Dewalt sale at Rockler for the scroll saw: https://www.rockler.com/dewalt-20-in-vs-scroll-saw-with-work-light-and-stand?sid=V20724&utm_medium=email&utm_source=batch&utm_campaign=20201225_B_D_After-Xmas-Sale-Starts-Now_V20724&mcID=922%3A5fe372e720c3e612917c78b4%3Aot%3A5d89136817295b2bb920200a%3A1&linkID=
  17. Merry Christmas to you as well @Dan And thanks for the suggestion/idea!
  18. I am making a lot of product these days and IMO tossing way too much scrap in the garbage. Mostly I'm talking about 3/4 Basswood, 3/4 Poplar and 3/4 Pine usually about 2-6" in length and maybe the same width or less We have switched to Basswood for some products, as we no longer use Pine for these products as it tends to be very knotty and almost unusable for patterns. We end up cutting out up to 1/3 of a board sometimes! Not acceptable. I would like to try and use as much of the scrap as possible but am not having luck coming up with anything meaningful or useful. The only thing so far is using specific sizes for the inserts on the clocks I make - but I don't make that many to make it a viable resource So, I ask you the experts... What do you do with your scrap wood aside from my burning it, tossing it or leaving it at the curb? If any group can come up with ideas on using scraps, this is the community for it! Thanks as always in advance
  19. IMO every item today is considered disposable. That is the world we have accepted and live in. We've accepted it by purchasing items that fail in short time and purchasing another, often the same item/mfg! Tools are no different. Here are 2 lists of the only tools still made in America; https://www.protoolreviews.com/what-tools-are-made-in-the-usa/ https://www.usalovelist.com/american-made-tools/ I personally would not buy a B&D or Craftsman power tool having very bad experiences with both - talk about no parts and disposable! Dewalt is sometimes made in the U.S. but with outsourced materials! Which is why some machines are ok, and others not so much Is there an American made Table Saw in the $800-$2000 NO there is not! You take risk on quality when you buy ANYTHING these days. It's just how it is and what we as consumers have accepted. You can NOT buy everything American, in fact very little can be said to be "Made in U.S." these days - I wish we could. Thanks to politicians taking our mfging and sending it elsewhere there is little of hope for "MADE IN AMERICA" to be a lasting and returnable commodity. Ok, see what you've done now LOL *off my soap box*
  20. I have a Delta table saw cost me $500 4 years ago - best $500 tool I've bought so far! It survived Hurricane Micheal and me LOL I have 2 Delta scroll saws cost me $275 each - 1 4 years old, survived Hurricane Michael and again ... Me The other the wife now uses and she loves Nothing wrong with Delta products from my seat- they are the best available at their price point IMO and on my budget it is what I can afford. I would buy another Delta tool without thinking twice about it. You do get what you pay for and so far I've paid for and received quality tools at a reasonable price! Not sure what you people are complaining about - if you don't like the tool, don't buy it
  21. Good for you - my HD doesn't have saws on sale but a few weeks ago they did have the Dewalt on sale for 299 - of course I had already bought another Delta from Amazon for 250 or I would have jumped on that dewalt sale
  22. I buy lots of bits from HF - so far they've all done a fine job I have this set (3 years now) that I use the smaller bits most - I've had to replace a few of the smallest as they break when I'm not careful: https://www.harborfreight.com/titanium-drill-bit-set-29-pc-61637.html I like HF bits because they're inexpensive and I don't really need expensive bits for what I do
  23. Yikes
  24. If it were me, I would return it and get a replacement if they have it - they should. That is just sloppiness out of the factory and I would also contact Delta and tell them about it as well It is a good saw and for the money, I think it is the best in that price point in fact I have 2! The Dewalt is also a good saw, and if it's still on sale at home depot for $299 that is another good option. (Just checked my local and it is not on sale here) As for the repair, like you I can DIY some stuff, but not comfortable taking equipment apart - but this repair of tightening the nuts and bolts was easy peazy! If I can do it, anyone can. Keep us informed though either way! Oh and don't give up the ship - this is just a bump in the road.
