  1. Another one from Charles Hand's "Circular Scroll Saw Designs" book (I think that's the name of it). 3/4" whiteboard, used a number of Pegas #3 MG blades and Minwax "Early American" stain. Took a while to cut, due to some office travel and other home projects. Not a difficult cut, just....a lot of cutting.
  2. I've noticed this tendency to "jump" gets more and more pronounced the duller the blade is. When it gets to the point that I start worrying about cutting into "good" wood, I figure its time to swap blades. Nicely cut, though!
  3. Dang, that's nice! Freehand, or do you have a pattern?
  4. I thought most of the movie was just kinda boring, except for the scene where they're all drunk and discussing tattoos. Quint's story about his time on the USS Indianapolis....goosebumps. Nicely cut!
  5. Lookin good! Much better than my early attempts! Use the applewood circles as coffee coasters!
  6. Different branch, but same feeling. ::hoists beverage::
  7. Haven't cut anything Halloween-ish this year, since we usually don't decorate or dress up for it (daughter does, but wife was never into that, so of course I'm not either, she tells me). Cut these a while back and hang them up at work. The splatterskull was bought by a lady at work, I haven't had a chance to cut another one. Top row, L-R: OogieBoogie (from "Nightmare Before Christmas") Ash (from "Evil Dead" series) Creepy grin (found on Google) Bottom row, L-R: Alfred Hitchcock (early horror filmmaker) Edgar Allan Poe (NOT Hitler....yeah, I work with some geniuses) H.P. Lovecraft (early horror author, inspiration for Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Wes Craven, etc)
  8. Awesome!!!
  9. Phenomenal!! And now I have another pattern site to bookmark, and more patterns to add to my neverending list of "this would be awesome to cut" printout pile.
  10. Awesome!
  11. Yeah, I thought about doing one layer a bright teal color, just for funsies, but by the time I got to staining, I completely forgot. LOL Hmmm...mebbe I need to do another...!
  12. Thanks, all! It was a really quick cut, even with 5 layers. Technically 4, as the backer is just cutting a circle and could've been done on the bandsaw. Not too many pilot holes per layer.
  13. Finally got down to cutting Steve Good's compass pattern. Not a difficult pattern to cut, unless you hate angles. 1/4 bbply, #2/0 Pegas MG blades. Didn't stack-cut this, as I had to wait for my next trip to Lowes for wood for two of the layers. Ended up using 1/2" ply for the blank backer, I was worried about hangar nails/screw breaking into a cut part, but its thick enough where a hangar would naturally fall that I shouldn't have worried. Dark layers are Minwax "Honey" and the light is a new one for me, "Early American".
  14. Looks great to me!
  15. Nicely cut! Doesn't look like there was too much rust.
  16. Looks like a successful return to me!
  17. Very nice! I too love the second one!
  18. Nicely cut!!
  19. I've cut the original....dangit, now I need to cut the 3D version!!!
  20. This one is called "Elaborate Plaque". Probably about 16 hours' worth of cutting (half of that drilling pilot holes, it seems). 1/2" whiteboard, Pegas #3MG blades (four, I think). Sanded to 220grit, Minwax DarkWalnut stain. Pattern is from Charles Hand's "Circular Scroll Saw Designs" book, found it on Amazon after someone else posted a pattern from it here on the forums. I'd recommend reading the first page or two, there's a couple of steps you can take (quick and easy) and they'll email you PDF versions of any of the patterns. I asked for and received all of the patterns from the book, since I'm not sure which ones I'll eventually cut (I have two more patterns printed, prepped, drilled, and ready to go). Easy pattern to cut, really, if you're not afraid of angles (if you are, this one will give you PLENTY of practice). The hardest part was the mind-numbing center rings. The center circle was easy, just cut the interior circle, then go back and cut the spokes. The first ring of "petals"......well, that's why I have an audio book going while I cut. Made it less tedious. Not a joy, just.....less tedious. LOL
  21. Love it!!! Frame is perfect for the picture, as well....what's the frame made of?
  22. Okay, now THAT is really striking!
  23. That works too! LOL
  24. Nicely cut! I wouldn't worry overly much about calling them "wands" or even "magic wands", those terms have been around for a lot longer than JKRowling has been. It'd be akin to someone trying to copywrite the word "car" because they used it in a book. Now, if you called them "Harry Potter Wands" or "Hogwarts Wands" or "Olivander's Wands", THOSE are specific to the world created by JKRowling and might raise a ruckus. Granted, I'm not a lawyer, but...I'd still call em "wands".
  25. Used to be a big DrWho fan, until the Doctor turned woke-political. And the weeping angel in the middle will remain that way as long as someone is looking at it.
