  1. I love the darker shades coming through, so I would probably do a dark stain on the backer and light or natural stain (or just a clearcoat) on the piece itself. Very nicely cut!
  2. "US Declaration", from dafont.com
  3. Getting ready for American Independence Day coming up in July. Scrap wood, the base was a 2x6 salvaged from some nearby housing construction scrap bin (probably worth a couple hundred bucks these days). Piece is stained Minwax "Weathered Oak", base is Minwax "Honey". Sealed with a layer of rattlecan shellac. Took about an hour to cut the piece, then another hour or two worth of sanding and shaping the base. Holes for the flags were eyeballed, no idea what the angles are. I was looking for a Betsy Ross flag (the one on the viewer's left) on Amazon and found the "Spirit of 76" flag as well, so I picked it up instead of a 50-star flag.
  4. Daaaaaaaaaaaaang this is....striking. Awesome!
  5. Now, THAT is a beautiful work of art! ...so is the car!
  6. A couple of feathered cuts I've done. And a couple that have wings, but not necessarily feathers.
  7. This has probably been covered before (heck, probably asked by my forgetful self!), but my search-fu didn't uncover any definitive answers. I know photos of famous people, actors, musicians, etc, are considered public domain and therefore open for converting into patterns, but what about albums? I've got an album cover I'd like to convert and try out, but want to make sure its okay or, failing that, dropping a line to the band and see if I can get permission. Any thoughts?
  8. Word has it that, tragically, Chuck Norris passed away seventeen years ago. Death has been too afraid to tell him.
  9. Dang I love that first one! The rest are well-cut as well....but the first one really caught my eye.
  10. Great cuts on both!
  11. I have this one printed out and waiting (along with about a thousand other patterns, but who's counting?)!! Very nicely cut!
  12. I believe I got it from Sam Custodio, he posted it on FB one day.
  13. Well, since JoeW. started the brainteasers, I'll show a couple of those I've cut, plus a puzzle I did mostly on the table saw, back when I was just starting to discover woodworking (and had yet to really get into the scrolling side of things).

  15. Well, if they insist on labeling Conservatives, might as well flaunt it. LOL
  16. Very nice!
  17. Keep in mind that the "politically incorrect" part is less the cigarette and more the rude gesture he's making.
  18. There's a town here in Texas that got fed up with its leadership, so one election year they elected.....a beer-chugging goat. It was ruled that there was nothing that prevented a goat from being mayor of the town, so the mayor was out. The town continued along and fixed what needed fixing, businesses prospered, and nobody really felt the need to install a two-legged mayor, so they kept electing the beer-chugger as Mayor. When he passed, they elected one of his offspring who also had a fondness for sudsy beverages. That's been a tradition in that town for many years now, and continues to this day.
  19. Heh. Still have an Amiga 1000. Powers up and everything. Boot disk is corrupted, though.
  20. Forgiveness vs. permission.
  21. I remember you posting this cut, and my wife happened to walk by. I started to chuckle, and she cut me off with a firm "no." LOL The monkey, unfortunately, is going to stay in the cut-but-not-finished-out pile. LOL
  22. Quick, fun cut. Not a lot of sharp angles, he's mostly flowing curves. Probably not one to hang up in the kids' room. 1/4" bbply, Pegas #2/0 MG blades.
  23. You will definitely discover that there are times when "darn it" just isn't quite adequate.
  24. Its a scroller's Rite of Passage. Next up, spending 10 hours on a project and ....dropping it.
  25. Awesomeness!!
