  1. Most recent "scary" cut was H.Botas' pirate skull. It just checked all the right boxes for me, and was a fun cut. The pirate owl (cuz why not?) and wolf were fun as well, and the six cuts are my standard Halloween decorations at work (pirate skull has been added to that group now as well). Not sure if there's any defining "requirements" as to why I cut what I cut. Its just gotta hit me the right way in whatever emotion it evokes.
  2. Yep. Also an excuse to reprint the pattern at 125% so that the thin lines are a bit thicker, more robust.....and less likely to bust.
  3. Looks perfect as-is, I can't see any obvious "missing" lines. Nicely cut! What's the weather like in your area? Humidity might keep the paint from curing fully. Maybe give it some time under a heat lamp or blow-dryer?
  4. It was a quick cut. I'm also wanting to say she's got a couple more, wolf, bear, deer. I'll probably take a rummage through the Pattern Library again and pull those out, as well.
  5. I started on a pretty detailed H.Botas pattern (eagle fighting a rattlesnake), and got about an hour into the cut when the plywood started delaminating. Badly. Thankfully I wasn't too far in or I would've had to start cursing in a language other than English, having exhausted all of my normal, everyday foul language. So I did the adult thing: chunked the bad section (whilst muttering under my breath...), reprinted the pattern (a little bit larger this time....this thing is INTRICATE), and fired up a couple of quick-n-easy patterns to get some finishes under my belt and reset my braincell. H.Botas rock-n-roll G-nome, and an arrowhead pattern by Sue Walker that I've had for a while, found it in the pattern library. Gnome is backed by a tie-dye printout on regular printer paper, found it on Google Images. Arrowhead is a piece of cedar fencing, stained Minwax "Honey".
  6. Cute ornaments, LOVE the wolf!!! Very nice cutting!! Even being nearsighted, I've found a magnifying lamp works wonders for helping with cuts.
  7. Very delicate, nicely cut!!!
  8. Heh. Same here, not the type to have anything that starts with the word "Boat". Pirate will probably end up hanging on my cube at work (he'll go up with the rest of the Halloween projects I usually put up on Oct 1), its just too cool to sit in storage for 11 months out of the year.
  9. Thanks all!
  10. Two H.Botas patterns. 1/8 bbply, Minwax "Natural" stain with "Honey" on backers and frames. Used a whole bunch of Pegas 2/0 MG blades.
  11. Nice pattern!!! That's what the holiday was originally intended to celebrate here in North America, as well, until it got commercialized and became a day for gorging oneself prior to the start of the Christmas holiday spend-a-thon.
  12. Nice!!
  13. Test-tube rack for holding scroll saw blades. Dragons are on two sides of a dice tower, the dragon-topped box is a tweaked Steve Good box design, used it to hold D&D dice. The two heart-shaped jewelry boxes are also SG designs (added a dragon to one for my daughter, rose went to my wife).
  14. Personally? I'd say leave it as-is. The piece speaks for itself, no need for embellishment or cluttering-up. Nicely cut, as well!
  15. No, in fact, I do not have six fingers.
  16. I cringe just thinking about the delicacy involved with sanding this thing. Nicely cut!!! My first impression was "drill a hole in the center, and make a numberless clock". A couple of elegant silver hands, and this would be a VERY nice timepiece.
  17. The monkey and owl are.....Botas Heder patterns, I believe (I know the monkey is, I think the owl came from his Etsy shop as well). The wordart were my patterns, pretty sure I posted them in the Pattern Library.
  18. Heh. A couple I've done, most of which my wife won't let me bring into the house.
  19. Dang.....excellent cutting, and the colors REALLY make them pop!!
  20. Okay, now THIS is friggin awesome!!!
  21. Nice touch!!
  22. Dang, just heard that. So sorry to hear about your loss, you and yours are in our prayers.
  23. Summer, in Texass, means mostly planning ways to get away from the heat. Love the mountains, and we've rediscovered a joy of kayaks on the lake, as long as its not *too* windy out.
  24. Start with the feet. Those little tiny details are, in my opinion, the worst to cut (takes longer to move then blade than it does to make the cut). The rest of it was a fun cut! Much as I hate those little bits around the feet, I do appreciate how much detail they bring to the project.
  25. Different stores have different policies, I guess...I've had a lumber guy tell me he needed to take them up front and initial them so everyone knew I wasn't stealing them (used a Sharpie, sanded off easily enough), and another guy on another trip kinda chuckled and said "you want to help take out our trash? Pull your truck up, how many ya need?" Taken some busted pallets of their hands that way, too.
