  1. I have only purchased the Olson blades for a mate. I do know they are miles better than the other "Brands" available in Hardware shops. I got mine from the Wooden Teddy Bear along with an order of non pinned blades and other items. https://woodenteddybear.com/collections/all-blades/products/pinned-blades
  2. Super job Kevin. You've been busier than a one legged man in an (ass) kicking contest. mate. (I used the U.S. Spelling )
  3. Onya Gary. Well done mate. That's a rather neat idea, having the use of a shop window.
  4. Just an idea, try drilling your entrance holes on either side of the window separators then you will only have to cut along the line. Give yourself a bit of waste then you can sneak up on the line.
  5. A very nice cut. I think I'll leave the leopards alone, now a Panther I would be interested in cutting.
  6. A true work of love there. Absolutely marvellous I hope you stack cut them then You;d have a couple of extras with no additional eye strain
  7. Bob, I have been trying for years to tell people that MDF is no more dangerous than timber. I have used it for many many toys and being a cabinet maker, it is my go to sheet material for cabinets, veneered and laminated.
  8. I am always amazed at the reference to MDF dust being more hazardous than wood. The make up must vary greatly from country to country. The Australian Dept of heath rates our MDF made to Australian standards as no more or less hazardous than wood dust and recommends that you take the same precautions. I use MDF almost exclusivity when cutting letters etc which are to be painted and fixed to another board. I also use it for backing my tray puzzles and after it is painted black I use it to back my portraits. If the piece is likely to be in a damp area I use HMR which is High Moisture resistant MDF. It would be hard to find another material which would paint as nicely and stay as flat.
  9. You took a long road to get there but the journey was well worth it. They look very nice.
  10. I bought a variable speed drill press a while ago because I was sick of changing belts. I thought I was pretty good until I saw what a Nova is.:)
  11. They are absolute beauties. Not just the cars, but the cutting is brilliant.
  12. GTHO Falcon A few other's I have made
  13. Beautiful work. Absolute rippers.
  14. Both very nice Frank. I do like the rose and the way you made it POP with the use of colour on the backer.
  15. I like it a lot Brenda. I used to do one with a single hook and the wording "if the hat's missin' I've gone Fishing"
  16. Very nice inlay work.
  17. Very nice Jim, Similar to the ones I designed and had in the magazine.
  18. that's really neat.
  19. I use flat black, fix my cutting to it then a couple of coats of gloss or semi gloss over the whole thing. I have also used coloured felt which makes a nice smooth background.
  20. Russell, I have not used them on 1/4" 6mm but have on 3/8" 10mm. Not sure how small you can actually get those hinges.
  21. Here's a few places I have bought hinges and catches from for boxes. The type of hinge 1st depends upon the type of lid you use, overhang, flush, inside, apron etc and if you are prepared to house them in or only want surface mounts. I go along with Tom, and never use nails, although that is what some of the smaller hinges and catches come supplied with. I always use screws https://www.craftparts.com/product-category/hardware/hinges-brass/ https://www.nationalartcraft.com/product-index.asp https://www.nationalartcraft.com/subcategory.asp?gid=12&cid=103&scid=1762 I have also used Quadrant hinges. They are neat as they incorporate a stay, but take a little more work to fit then standard type hinges Another type I use are the concealed hinges, barrel hinge
