  1. It's not pleasant. 44c today and then dropping to the mid to high 30's for a two or three days then baaaaaaack up we go into the 40's I can't remember when we last had good rain. It has tried a few times but nothing but a few drops. Last night we had about 10 minutes but it dried and soaked in as soon as it hit. 5 minutes after it had finished you'd never of known. Makes me truly admire the explorers, settlers and prospectors, bugger all water, stinking hot and dressed as they were.
  2. I'll be a fence sitter. I have my Dewalt sitting on a piece of 4"x2" so the rear is raised 2". The Ex21 is flat. I stand to cut and don't really notice any difference.
  3. I know where you are coming from Denny. If I had a dollar for every compliment I wouldn't have to sell a thing and would be a multi millionaire
  4. They are great. when I was a young fellow I used to haunt the libraries and borrow books on Games, How make your own games etc, made lots of different ones over the years.
  5. Well knock me over with a feather!
  6. That is the reason I first started selling toys all those years ago. I was using the toy-making as a therapy of sorts and after awhile the shed and house looked like Santa's work shop. The War Office suggested we get a stall at the local monthly markets and away we went.
  7. Well, it was a bloody hot 42c and only mad dogs, Englishmen and silly Aussies come out in the midday sun. It's going to be over 40 most of next week. Set up when it was relatively cool at 8am this morning, but packed up and was home by 12.30 pm. Had about $300 more in the sky rocket then when I left so, I suppose, melting a little was worth it Now to consolidate and make a few displays for next year, for myself and my daughters Jewellery.
  8. Just my 2 bob's worth, but wouldn't a grinder do the same thing. I have a small grinder set up with a couple of small sanding drums and it works fine. It's an under powered piece of Chinese ... but it does the job. A standard bench grinder should handle sanding mops no worries. I also have my old drill press set up to use various drums and mops, so a cheap 2nd drill press may be another viable option
  9. Bugger !!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Good stuff Iggy. A nice little order too. While you are expecting rain, it';s looking like 42c at out markets on Sunday.
  11. looking good
  12. I think I have all of that info, and I agree with Brenda, Ray. It's neat to see where people come from. One example is when somebody posts a real pearler of a price for something, now if it's in the US, not a chance, Canadian $ maybe, Pounds another maybe, NZ $ a definite
  13. I haven't taken mine apart for awhile, but I think there should be a set screw in the hole. The Allen key headed bolt has a nut on the reverse. Just rock the arms back and forth (up and down) and see if there is any slack, if so it should be tightened a bit.I think there is a bearing in there so it should be tight. You may have to bend some spanners to get at it.
  14. From what Dan has said, it is the same here in Australia, All finishes are safe once dry, with the exception of some very heavy duty 2 part industrial paints. Oils and wax's bring out the grain, but are not a finish as such, they do not ad any protection. For kids I use a gloss lacquer as it looks nice and easy to clean.
  15. Excellent piece and very well finished. Next time, just for the sake of argument, try dry sanding, it will work just as well, If you have any dust in the final coat use an oil or wax with very fine paper or steel wool. The amount of effort you put into it definitely shows.
  16. Great job on them all. Congratulations on you anniversary too.
