  1. My saw broke !!! Well, perhaps that's a bit dramatic. The pin that holds my tension lever in place fell out while I was cutting !! the tension lever rocketed into the air, goodness knows where the 'pin' went as I can't find it. I've asked Axminster if they've got a replacement but they haven't. They are going to see if they have any saws returned and try and take one from that and send it to me. Luckily, I still have my old saw down in Tony's workshop, so I'll have to take the pin out of that for the time being. Tony's going to measure the pin with his 'calliper' thing and I'll buy some metal dowels on line. Not a good day as I have quite a few things to cut that people are waiting for If this is how the day is going I'm not going to wash my best China today.
  2. It's a box press that Tony made for me to hold my A4 - 3mm plywood to keep them straight. If you look carefully at the bottom I have some pieces in there sandwiched between some really thick mdf. It just came in handy to put my big A3 'car' onto while I clamped it. It is incredibly strong, when it's empty I turn it upside down and use it as a step to reach things on the top shelf.
  3. It turned out well enough !! A good frame should do the rest !!!
  4. They look very nice though.xx
  5. You have a lovely generous nature Kevin, that's worth more than money.
  6. So cute !!
  7. Nice clock. It's so pretty too.
  8. It looks brilliant. Great pattern, cutting and frame. Well done !
  9. The wood I cut my car out of is, quite disappointingly, very warped, but I had nothing else. So I was quite determined to get it to glue solidly to a flat backer and using 'overkill' it worked. I sandwiched it between two large flat pieces of wood, clamped it all around and added two 5 litre bottles of water and 4 large pieces of concrete. The frame, I hope,, will hide a multitude of sins
  10. That's amazing. Good job
  11. I'm with your wife, I love the fretwork one. !!
  12. They are nice, I'm sure they'll be received with joy. Beautiful !
  13. 'A little bit of bread and no cheese' is the song of the Yellow Hammer, a Bunting type bird we have in English hedgerows. I think that might be what the title of the piece means.
  14. I read this earlier on Steve's blog. Hoping that treatment will slow everything down so he can be with us for many more years. My heart goes out to him and Patty.

    A3 Car

My SIL will know exactly what car it is, he has a passion for them. !! I just wanted to ask the 'more experienced scrollers' if it was up to par for a car fanatic, as I don't have the first clue and didn't want to give him something that wasn't good enough. It's for his 'office' in the garden. I used the A3 sheet of wood because it's the biggest I have and I'll make an oak frame for it. It's just the right size to fit the space he has 'spare' over his desk. Our 'standard' photo frame sizes are much the same as yours by the look of it.

    A3 Car

I found a pattern of a Dodge Challenger in the library, by @grampa, I cut it on an A3 piece (16½" x 11½") of 3mm ply. I must admit that A3, fit's beautifully on my saw but alas my eyesight and arms are not long enough to cope very well when I have the 'long' part between me and the blade. So I think I'll stick to my A4 wood from now on. A question if I may ? I wouldn't know one car from another, so do you think this is cut well enough to be given to someone who knows a lot about cars ? I intend to frame it with the same frame I used on the 'Bird on a Tap' so would like to have some honest opinions before I go ahead with it.
  17. Wow, that's beautiful. !! However, it would take me all 'week' never mind 'all evening'
  18. Gorgeous, you should put it in 'Bragging Rights' I would if it were mine. !!
  19. Don't know how I missed this.. Well deserved, it's a great piece. !!
  20. Welcome to the Village from our side of the pond too.. It's a great place to be, full of great people - Enjoy
  21. Beautiful work, amazing as it is without anything 'extra'
  22. Unfortunately, because it's going to 'hang' like a windchime there is no 'behind' otherwise I would have.
  23. Thank You. It's Mahogany, I have a piece of old coffee table that I've re-sawn. This is 4½" across and ¼" thick. I found a picture on the internet and liked it so I put it through Inkscape and made it into an ornament for a friend.
  24. I wasn't aware that it was on Kevin. I just wanted to show the ornament.
  25. I meant to say it's on his Facebook page, it's a free pattern. Sorry, !!
