  1. Well, I tried it and it does work. I went very slowly, in fact I stood at arms length from the saw to turn it on just in case. Don't know if I expected it to blow up or something, but I sure looked very silly I think perhaps he scrolled before they made spirals or maybe in post war Britain there were none to be had. But one thing is sure, although the technique works it's an awful pain in the fingers trying to hold a blade and twist it 360 and then clamp it. I for one will be practicing with my spirals in future.
  2. Nice cutting. It's a popular piece where I live, I've had to do 3 of them LOL.
  3. I was talking today with an old friend (85yrs young) who used to be a teacher in woodworking for many years. Scrolling, turning, furniture making the whole kit and caboodle. We were talking about scrolling as he loves some of my pieces (especially the half naked lady) and I was telling him about my failed attempts with spiral blades. He smiled and said ''try twisting one of your flat blades a full turn before you fasten it in the clamp'' he reckons it will cut very nicely. Now, I promised him I would try and would let him know how I got on. This is something I have never heard of before, so I'm asking everyone before I even attempt this.... Have you ever tried this ?
  4. Can't help with the saw, but Welcome to the Village.
  5. Stunning
  6. It came from a Christmas Stocking actually I put it through Inkscape and did a 'Trace Bitmap' to get it. Glad you found what you were looking for.
  7. It's not a pattern per se, but simple enough to put your own bridges in it to keep it together perhaps. Not sure if this helps any. CHARLEY HARPER.pdf
  8. Nicely done, I do like those type of signs.
  9. Beautiful
  10. OMG, you are so right, I'd forgotten about that. I left a pan on the stove and it was so burnt the house was full of smoke and I burnt my throat and lungs going in to turn it off. Tony wasn't home then either, perhaps I should ban him from leaving the house !!
  11. OMG, it sounds like you are in a worse state than I am. Goodness, neither of us should be let out without supervision.
  12. I did already in answer to Paul hd, I said, (You are quite right. I wanted the tiniest bit of glue in the 'void' of the plywood, not on the surface., so I took the top off and dipped an old blade into it. The idea worked perfectly . However, I was so pleased with myself, I forgot momentarily where I had placed the bottle and when I turned to pick up the lid I caught the bottle with my wrist and 'hey presto'. Lesson learned. !! )
  13. Thanks Marg. My 2nd 'human'. , I think I'm beginning to like them It's an H.Botas Pattern. I like his patterns as he simplifies them so much without losing the 'essence' of what they are.

  15. Drying up nicely, but may take a while to heal. Takes longer as I get older I've noticed.
  16. It is, I sprayed it with some aerosol car paint
  17. I'm wearing flipflops, my foot too sore to fit in shoes, blue shade or otherwise
  18. Ooh, that looks very professional. Great pattern, lovely cutting. Welcome back to your saw.
  19. Didn't feel like doing much of anything today after yesterdays mishap. So I consoled myself with Elvis.
  20. Tried putting a photo in a post today and it 'failed' twice. Ooops, I had the photo on ''read only'' SORTED. X
  21. Thank you Travis. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I have more than enough 'splash' blisters on my thigh and my foot will take a little time to heal. I have now 'googled' CA Glue and must confess that I never realised that it could burn so badly. However, forewarned is forearmed as they say and I will be extra cautious next time I have reason to use it.
  22. Gorgeous
  23. I did phone 111 ( our health service help line) and spoke to a medic. I ran cool water over both legs for 20 mins and then wrapped everything in clingfilm. This morning I'm fine, the clingfilm is keeping the air from it and I am in no pain. I will keep a close eye on it I promise.
  24. Today I accidentally knocked a small bottle of CA glue over whilst applying it to a break in a piece I was cutting. It cemented my jeans to my thigh instantly and welded my Crocks and socks to my feet. Oh boy it felt like I was on fire. The result is I now look like this Just a photo of my foot as I'm way past the age where I flash a thigh.
