Very, very nice. Good to see others still doing the "old school" cutting and assembly. My pricing guide from Wildwood (1999) shows a low ball selling price of $600, the high ball price of $2000 and a suggested price of $1500. I would love to make this type of project, but I don't think anyone in town would be willing to pay what it is worth. I know you didn't make it to sell, but whoever ends up with it needs to know the value.

A quick update. When I saw the pictures online I thought the lack of contrast "lost" the image. So I took out the center and stained the outside "cherry". All finished, now I need a box to put it in. I found #2 x 1/4 screws at Lowes to attach the hanger.

Well I finally was able to dl some of the patterns, you have to play around with things a bit. Changing the archive date in the upper right hand corner of the new page helps, some of the time.

The web page opens and it shows some of the patterns. But, none of the pattern or other links open.

Small plaque (5" x 7" x 5/16") Pattern from a book "southwest patterns". Cut using FD scroll reverse #1 for the interior cuts, outside cut with FD Polar #3/0. This took a little longer, every time I got done with a fragile area I would put superglue on the back to reinforce the wood. Quarter for scale. To cut just the outside of the pattern took an hour.

A couple of Tealight stands, and the drop outs in front. : Steve Good pattern. 1/4 inch elm and an unknown wood, FD Polar #1 for the cut outs, #3 for the outside cuts (easier to keep on the line). One coat BLO on the stand none on the drop outs. One good thing about saving the dropouts is measuring the kerf for the slot together assemble. I stand the dropout on the pattern and "measure" where to cut. The picture show that this one needs to be cut on the inside of the line, the other one I needed to cut on the line itself.

Used the foam roller and polyurethane glue. I found inexpensive foam roller sets at the Dollar Tree store.

Here are the dropouts from a tealight stand. I positioned the pattern to get the light colored ears. Quarter for scale. 1/4" elm, FD #1 polar blades, no finish. Pattern by Steve Good. This is why I like the small blades; I can get a twofer.

Awl, needle nose pliers (extra small), side cutters, workbench, extra blade holders for #1 , extra blade holders with larger blades (#3, #5), 1 2 3 block. sandpaper block, flash light, magnet, small parts holders, canned air, tuff wrench

The suggestion for OTC meds was to identify if the issue is an irritant (like sawdust) or an allergy (organic vapor). I assume that you clean up after cutting? Change clothing and shower to get all the sawdust off? If you're doing that and this have the red itchy eye than the allergy meds will be a strong indicator, then talk to your MD about it. It can take a while for the OV to start to affect me, sometimes hours. If I'm already sensitized, then it's pretty quick.

I understand your issues with the allergy meds. I use the children's liquid benadryl, the normal dose for me is 0.6ml or 1/8 teaspoon, the max child dose is 2 tsp (10 ml), which would put me down for two days and no power tools for 3 days. I bought the filter at the local Fred Meyer, stopped by tonight and got another one ( it's time ) here's a picture :

It was the mid 80's when I started wearing prescription safety glasses, frames and lenses, and I never stopped. My eyesight is really bad uncorrected ( 20/500+) but 20/20 corrected. So, in order to see I have to be wearing safety glasses. Your eye irritation may be from the organic vapors released when you scroll. The current allergy tests only test for reaction to the pollen, not the OV. 3M makes a product that is a flat sheet with activated charcoal in the filter media, I have one on my box fan. Also you could try and OTC allergy medication. If the OTC works then discuss with your MD.

James, I have these small spring clips, they're smaller than a clothes pin and the tips are latex coated, you can use these to hold the samll blade while you are threading the blade down the slot.

Just got this cut and I can't get out to the shop until tomorrow ( 93 in the shop ! ) to finish it. What color do you like best? I also have silver, but it didn't photograph well ( and maybe for the moon ? )
