  1. I greased my saw really well and its sliding down the street. RJF
  2. Make a box and put a wedding ring in it. RJF
  3. They are basic tabletop units also look at complete kits. RJF https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=airbrush+compressor
  4. If its really loud with hearing protection, invest in better hearing protection. Cheap does effect quality and your hearing. Look at reviews and invest. Its a important piece of equipment in your shop and will last. The sound level is always a fight with shop machines, even this forum has a history of discussions that can be searched. RJF
  5. Airbrushes have really branched out. Depending on the use there is a designed air brush. Art, Auto detail, Models, Tattoo, Spray on Tan, Makeup, 'there is the cheap on on TV, but professional models are out there'. if you decide to get into airbrushing go with its own compressor. Some have adapted regular compressors but the airbrush fitting and regulator is different. I've seen articles of people searching to find the adaption fitting. The mgrs have designed larger sprayers for the artists that do custom wall art. There are plenty of youtubes on it and a variety of YouTubes on the different fields. RJF
  6. Warping is a moisture absorption problem. Its also a grain 'problem'. As wood absorbs and releases moisture it moves in the direction of the grain. Good, hardwood furniture takes the seasonal movement into account. Many old pieces have been nailed and screwed for repairs and the wood splits cause of the movement. Hardwood flooring is opened on site and left to sit to adjust to the sites moisture. Different wood has different absorption. Plywood has the different layers running different directions along with a lot of glue. There are grades of plywood that can take water better then other grades. Scrolling tends to create small pieces that can be combined with different wood species. The smaller piece is going to move less. The larger it gets the more the movement. Since many projects use plywood the craft doesn't have many articles on thinking about the wood type, what the cut is ie 'quarter sawn', and everything being completely finished to protect it from moisture. The project looks like there is still unfinished wood. ANY exposed wood is going to continue to absorb and release moisture and will move. I haven't tried intrinsa. The use of different woods is common, so information on small pieces of different wood species is probably out there. RJF
  7. I asked for world peace last year and some one heard COVID. RJF
  8. I think the summary is MDF has some good uses, BUT can cause nasty health problems while using any machines on it. RJF
  9. Couldn't edit my post; the instant glue technique could be used on a production basis. RJF
  10. Saw a youtube the other day. Wasn't scroll saw, but noted his glue technique. He put strips of glue spaced, then put CA glue 'crazy glue' in the spaces. He held it in place enough for the CA to grab. CA glue can be used as a two part, so the glue in applied to one piece and the instant set is applied to the other piece. It eliminates the pin nailer, clamping, or putting weights on the project. Filed this technique away in my brain to use if I'm short on clamps or a pin nailer isn't available. One additional missed 'clamping' technique is taping a few places. Little off track from glue. I'm covering some of the responses that could or couldn't be used from lack of equipment or space. RJF
  11. If money is no option, I would buy a government bid scroll saw. I think they go for 2 million a piece. RJF
  12. Not MOTORIZED? Do you mean a hand crank saw? RJF
  13. You can consider a generator. Since home shops use one power tool at a time and most don't use 220. You can buy a low end low amp generator OR use it for extra amps for 120 volt tools. Opens the selection to almost anything. Also throw in the added power backup feature.RJF
  14. For Halloween anyone want to cut all the bones to a skeleton and put them together? Could be small or life size. RJF
  15. Don't forget the mobius strip. RJF An object with one continuous side. It doesn't have two sides. Can put a pen on the surface and trace 'both sides' all the way around.
  16. Gee...might as well list some of the other groups.......Insects, bacteria, virus...2020 is big for a specific virus, just wants you to cut it out and hang it on a wall. Don't worry about the other wall hangings, just cut wooden masks for them. RJF
  17. I think classic art is not copyrighted, so scroll work of a classic art master could be a complex or simple project depending on the work selected. We have been looking for a house since January,. They have either been way over priced or damaged to the point of unlivable. If someone has scroll saw plans on a full size house I can work on that challenge. RJF
  18. I still own a couple of film Nikon cameras. For a one time charge they downloaded the picture to a sheet of paper. I could keep the pictures in storage for years without a single storage fee. Though to work the camera you had to remember shutter speed and f-stop. RJF
  19. Trees absorb nutrients and water to grow. When dead and called wood the structures of different wood species will still do the same thing. People painting houses or painting/ staining projects have had this problem for centuries. Technology developed 'Wood Sealers'. Searching for wood sealer will give you a variety of products. Between commercial products, forum boards and home made recipes online, coating your project with one of these will stop the absorption. RJF
  20. I would send her over, but my wife would object. RJF
  21. I generally shoot a picture of my work, with a sexy woman draped over it. No one seems to complain about the photo. RJF
  22. Bamboos are evergreen. perennial flowering plants in the grass family. The 'wood' is going to have different characteristics compared to the what we call wood from trees. Bamboo cutting boards are very tough and have great strength. Bamboo flooring is also a tough surface and it grows so fast it can be harvested faster then traditional trees. Its not exactly wood in a sense. RJF
  23. I suspect you have a batch of wood with this defect. Manufacturing is a balancing act of keep everything running 100 percent. Adhesive runs low. Pressure to adjust, sensors fail or are dirty, heat fluctuates. If you have any left from a sheet, do a simple pattern mount, cut and lift and see if you have the same thing. If it happens, either throw out or return. Anything now a days is complex enough that there are going to be rejects that get by inspection. RJF
  24. It has to do with Karma. If you find him, give him a few thwacks with your broken wood project. RJF
  25. Now that the laser is on a grill base, can it grill a nice steak? RJF
