  1. Awesome !!! That's probably not a 30 minute cut...LOL
  2. I matted and framed the Veteran cut yesterday. I like the way it turned out! I'll show it to a nurse at my doctor's office next week. She really liked the picture I showed her on my phone the other day. I think she may want me to make an Air Force one for her father.
  3. Thanks! If it's impossible...scrollers will find a way!!
  4. Thanks Marg! I'm half afraid someone else will want some! In 2 weeks I'm showing my work at the fair. The customer is going to paint them and give them back for the week so I can display them with the rest of my work.
  5. Thanks Les!
  6. I finished the shutter order for a lady today. What a job! She wanted each side 14 1/2" wide and 26" tall...My saw is a 16"... I did learn some new tricks though. First I had to drag the saw out in the middle of the shop to have room around it. Then I designed the shutters from a shelf bracket I found on line. Went to Rapid Resizer and blew it up to the measurements and printed the 6 page pattern. I figured if I could get one to come out right I would flip it over and use it as a templet. Not having a jointer and planer, I had a cabinet maker friend make me two blanks with 1 x 8s edge glued. Then came the trouble. I did the layout and double checked the measurements before cutting, thank God, to find the pattern was 1/4" off one way and almost 3/8" off in another spot! Back to the computer. Checked the input numbers and printed it on plain paper...still off. So I increased the measurements a little and printed . The trouble spots were now OK...but a different spot was not!! At this point I went out and check all the measurements of the 1/4" plywood trial I did. Close enough to use as a template and I could "wing it"...LOL. I also found out I really needed three hands... So I took an art brush, dropped it through the entry hole, used it to line up the blade slot in the table. and held the large blank with a 4" quick clamp. Then I removed the brush and could top feed the whole thing and tighten the bottom blade clamp, remove the quick clamp and cut ! Then repeat for the next hole! Kind of crazy...but it worked slick. Glad to be done with this project! She is going to prime and paint them to go with her kitchen...so I don't have to finish them!! Two things came out of this project, besides a learning experience. 1. I got that big cutout, between the lighthouse and the side frame, out almost intact today. I checked it and I can cut a puzzle dog from the scrap piece and sell it!! Bad news is I didn't think of it yesterday and cut that piece into smaller pieces getting it out. 2. This afternoon as I was working on it the lady calls me. It seems she does fundraising for local cancer victims. She wants me to come up with a trinket box to put a picture in the lid and a CUBS logo on it. It will be filled with the money she's raising for a lady with breast cancer who will be going through chemo in a month or two after a Mastectomy. So I get a triple play for this project! And probably a chance to be involved for other cancer patients!
  7. Very cool!! I've never really tried cars and aircraft...but I may soon...LOL
  8. Good job on the cut! I may have to find a pattern of my old Roadrunner. Mine was a 1973, yellow with black stripes . Love the Roadrunners back then, fun cars. It had the "slap stick" and was very quick, I won 5 trophies with it and placed high numerous times at the drag strip! Does your son-in-law still have his? My stepdaughter and her husband still have mine, but I have visitation rights when I go to Nebraska...LOL.
  9. Great job on both Frank! I really like "Let's Ride"!
  10. Thanks Marg!
  11. Thank you!
  12. Thank you! I've been wanting to cut one of these for a while, and the time seamed right. I also did a nice POW * MIA plaque last winter, it sold quickly so I'll do a few before "season".
  13. I took some time this afternoon to cut this US ARMY Veteran wall decoration. It was cut from 1/4” Oak with #1 Pegas blades. This is a naked photo I’m not sure what I want to finish it with. So I took 4 larger scraps and did one each Watco Natural, Satin Lacquer, Shellac, Semi-gloss Poly. I’ll see if anything looks good in the morning.
  14. I wipe mine with food grade Mineral Oil.
  15. ??? Kreg...jigs? What website?
  16. Yup, I got it a couple of years ago. I would rather have a big Sawstop or the likes...but a little less than $350 was closer to my budget than $1,000 - 4,000 ! The only thing I don't like about it is the fence, and it may just be the one I got. You have to release it on both ends, set it, and secure it on both ends. But they aren't the exact same! I've got to where I set the close end, measure from the end of the table to the fence where the ruler is, then measure the same on the far end of the fence...adjust it, and set it. 95% of the time I move it 1/8th to 1/4. Wish I could find a good, accurate aftermarket fence that clamped on one end.
  17. How about a lawnmower...LOL? It has wheels! I did this a month or two ago for a local business.
  18. Well...I did Santa's Pickup earlier this year. I made and sold a 57 Chevy for a car show in March...if I can find the picture..LOL.
  19. Not sure which you're talking about. I have a Central Machinery 8" bench drill press on the far right. I use it a lot and keep a 1/16" bit in it mostly. Then between that and the sander is a Dremel in a plunge router attachment. I use it for tight fretwork and keep a #56 bit in it mostly. Both work out great for what I do!
  20. We take the 5th wheel to Mission TX for the winter. About 2 miles from the Rio Grande River & Mexican border. We had a house a mile from the river and lived there several years. Most of the RV parks have craft shows. I do about 8-10 shows a month. They start in November and run through mid March. I lost several hundred dollars this spring when I had the last 4-5 shows canceled because of COVID.
  21. Thanks Dan! I was thinking it might sell well also. Did a single to see what it looked like, I think I'll stack cut a few for the winter shows...if they have them. Right now the Rio Grande Valley is getting hit hard with COVID. First of the season's shows start in November...hopefully it'll be gone by then, or at least manageable.
  22. I saw it on Ocooch Hardwood's site, and was curious. They have Red Oak, Cherry, Maple, and Walnut. All are 1/4" x 12" x 24"...so I got one of each to try.
  23. I was so inspired with the shop being clean and organized that I cut a new piece this evening. On Steve Good's site he calls it a "Christmas Oval". I cut it, with #3 Pegas blade, from 1/4" Walnut ply with a 1/4" Maple ply backer. Finishing is Watco Light Walnut on the fretwork and Watco Natural on the backer. I may hit it with a couple coats of Lacquer tomorrow to help protect it.
  24. Not really bragging... but I did do what I've been putting off. Did you ever get to the place you can't find anything right on the bench? I was between projects this morning and told myself "you've got to do something with this mess"! So I cleaned up the workbench, and found a few things I thought I had lost! I'll post a picture...neat, clean, organized...it probably won't stay that way for long...LOL! Also I got tired of the tubes I have my blades in rolling around all the time. When I bump the saw table they will roll off onto the floor...and I have to stop and pick them up. So I dug around in Steve Good's site and found a "tube carrier" plan I had seen a while back. Didn't take long to cut out and glue up...presto, all my blades are organized and within reach!
