  1. I Cut Steve Good's pattern of The Beatles guitar pick a couple of weeks ago also. Cut from 1/4" Baltic Birch with a Walnut backer dipped in 50/50 brew
  2. I think I forgot to post this H. Botas pattern Stevie Ray Vaughn I did a couple of weeks ago. I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch and sprayed it with semi-gloss Lacquer. No frame yet.
  3. You sir, hit the nail on the head! I completely agree. I would hazard a guess as to the cause of 80%, or more, of the problems in this country, and others, boil down to two words...NO RESPECT. I would guess that you and I are around the same age, as we both understand this. I learned it at an early age...I still remember the sound of Dad's belt being pulled through his beltloops LOL...but I learned...eventually Younger generations have been let run wild, and we are seeing the results. You are exactly right, behind the wheel or a keyboard people show no respect. As long as they are not held accountable and there is no consequence there is no reason to change, their parents have been lazy and never taught them lessons of life. It gets worse with each generation. Although I haven't watched every news video of all the looting and rioting I have seen a bunch in the recent months. And I don't remember seeing a bunch of 65+ seniors trashing WalMart and running out with shopping carts of TVs ...or even Depends LMAO OK...I'm out of here... Thank you for your comments, I'm not the only one that thinks like this.
  4. Thanks John! Yes Heldas does some awesome patterns. I wish I were talented enough to do them all! But I'm "picking off the easy ones" for now...LOL. I'm working on his new Sean Connery "James Bond" pattern now. And I need to make a frame for the Stevie Ray Vaughn portrait I did a week or so ago. I had never heard about the voting thing in OZ. Not a bad idea though.
  5. Not a chance... I find that extremely insulting as a United States Veteran (as are many on here). Regardless what we think of whoever is in office at any given time...he is the President of the United States and Commander In Chief. I thought we were better than that on this forum to have that kind of a political bias and sarcasm. I simply showed a piece I had cut from a very respectable Australian pattern designer, H. Botas, and reminded folks to vote, as our elections are next week. I did not ask for a political opinion from someone in another country.
  6. Let me think about the wording of my response, I like it here and don't want to get banned!
  7. OK...after watching that video, twice, I'm going to buy a lottery ticket today!!! Didn't see a single thing I wouldn't want to have in my shop...just how to pay for it all.
  8. I use a DeWalt ROS and don't notice any great amount of dust. I do use my air gun and blow it out from top to bottom about every 2-3 sandpaper changes. Also I empty, and blow clean, the bag fairly often.
  9. We voted yesterday. Mid-afternoon at county courthouse in a small town...only ones there. A older couple (estimate 80s +) came in as we were finishing. Much better than standing in a longline in the cold!!
  10. I cut this President Trump portrait last week and made a frame for it. I've already got one sold and another interested person. H. Botas did the pattern, I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch ply with #3 & #1 Pegas blades and finished with spray Lacquer. Then mounted it in a frame I made from 1 x 2 White Pine painted black with a black mat board backer. Get out and vote! We did today and beat the lines
  11. I've loved that box cense the first time you put it on here. The inlay is just awesome! So you use a table saw and not a band saw? I think Jim Finn told me one time he cuts it open with a band saw. I'm going to have to try that...on scrap first
  12. Thanks Dan! I ordered a set from Garrett Wade last night.
  13. Very beautiful box!! The business card box is cool. The hinges will be outside on this box, I need to figure out mortises and how to do them first. I also want to put inlays in the top, when I get this "basic box" down pat. What is the best thickness for an inlay?
  14. Thanks Katie! I thought of that...but wondered if that was a dumb idea lol. Now I know it will work!
  15. That's 1/8" for #8, #10, #12 screws. I may look around to see if they make them for #2, I think that is what these are. But thanks, I have them on my list of tools to get foe other projects. That looks like a quick and easy way to do it. edit: I found a nice chart for screw hole sizes https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/Wood-Screws/Wood-Screw-Pilot-Hole-Size.aspx And on Amazon there are hinge bit sets with small sizes! Thanks!
  16. Interesting, I had never seen those before. Do you think the smallest gimlet in that set is small enough for those screws? I was thinking maybe one of those little push drills they sell to use with our #58 & #60 bits. I think people that make jewelry use them also. Heck, I might get both! I'm sure they both will come in handy. Thanks for the info!
  17. I'm building my first medium size jewelry box. So far...so good, mostly. Most was engineered on the fly, hope I made good notes for the next one LOL. I'm to the point of attaching the hinges and latch, and don't want to screw up what I've done so far. I made this one out of wood I had laying around, the body is 1/2" Oak and the lid, and tray, is 1/4" Walnut. The parts are small with very small screws, see photo, for reference that's a #3 Pegas blade beside the screw. What's the best way to mount these hinges straight and in the proper position? I assume I'll need a dent or pilot hole to get the small screws to go in the right position. Also...do you guys that build trinket/jewelry boxes on a regular basis, for sale, think I should use 1/4" for the next box? What thickness do you use for body & lid?
  18. LOL I know what you mean...in my younger years I used to "change ladies" often. But have one worth keeping for the last 23 or so years Fishing has been a constant hobby over my entire life, but other hobbies have faded in and out. I'm really enjoying the scroll saw though. I love the creativity and the fact I can "do it my way" as well as the unlimited subjects I can create with it. Travis you do a fantastic job of keeping this place running!! I would be lost without it. And all the awesome guys and gals here that share so much information, patterns, ideas, and support!
  19. I agree with Iggy!!
  20. WOW! Very nice Brenda...on both statements...! I would never be steady enough to write those names by hand! I've been to a couple of the clubs several times. One in Chicago and in Miami...almost 40 years ago LOL.
  21. Very nice Brenda! I like the tree with the names lasered on it...I need to get one of those. That's cool how you did your name on the sign, I might "borrow" that idea for something in the future. By the way, is that middle picture a self portrait...? lol
  22. When Obama was elected the shelves went empty over night. It was hard to even find a BB! I got a LEE loader and started loading all my 9mm. It's been in a box for a few years now. It's getting very hard to find anything lately so I dug it out, just need to find the other box and see what's left of powder and primers. I enjoyed reloading also so I know what you mean.
  23. I'm in the Ocooch Hardwoods camp also. Good wood and fast delivery. I order ply and hardwoods also.
  24. I've got a Kobalt KT 1015, about 2 1/5 yrs old. I needed something I could easily move out of the way. It's a decent lower end saw at just over $300...I think. I built a small crosscut sled and it does pretty good. I don't like the fence though, it has a lock on both ends instead of just one. I set the near side then measure the far side and lock it. I picked up a DeWalt DW780 sliding miter saw this summer, so I do all the angled cuts on it, and most cross cuts.
  25. Thank you! I know what you mean...seems like I get older every year
