  1. Thanks Iggy! I just got a roll not long ago, but may be smart and stock an extra couple of rolls.
  2. You are so right. And don't forget Sangria Wine, Navaho Rug, and Pissin' in the Wind!
  3. Nice cut! So true!
  4. Sean Connery...what can I say other than R.I.P ? My childhood hero has died I guess I thought he would live forever. Many of the other actors that have played 007 in later years said they were imitators...Connery WAS James Bond. I also thought Roger Moore did a good job. This is a H. Botas pattern done in 1/4" Baltic Birch with a wipe of Watco Danish Oil Natural. When I make a frame I'll use a black backer. Helder also did an older Sean Connery, I may do that one as well. He was fantastic is a number of movies.
  5. Awesome work!!! Very cool, is that their patch or did you come up with it?
  6. A little more "history behind the song". I think it's interesting to know the back story from some of the more famous songs. "Mr. Bojangles" was written by Grammy-nominated country music artist and American icon Jerry Jeff Walker for his 1968 album of the same name. It's been covered by multiple artists, including Bob Dylan, John Denver, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Neil Diamond, Sammy Davis Jr. and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, whose 1970 cover rose to number nine in the 1971 Billboard top 100 charts. The covers have been as diverse as they have been impressive. Who was the original "Mr. Bojangles" who inspired Walker to write this well-known country music song? Believe it or not, it was based on a homeless man he met in a New Orleans jail. The man referred to himself as "Mr. Bojangles" and regaled Walker with various stories about his life. While in the cell, Mr. Bojangles talked about his dog who had died. When one of the other men requested for someone to cheer everyone up, "Mr. Bojangles" hopped up and performed a tap dance. ** The nickname likely originated with the tap dancer and performer, Bill Robinson. You might recognize him from some classic 1930s Hollywood films, such as Shirley Temple's Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. His success led to many street performers being called "Bojangles," which inspired Walker's jail buddy's alias (mostly to keep his true name under wraps from the cops). With the background on that legendary, timeless name in mind, Jerry Jeff Walker's song takes on a whole new meaning and brings that character to life. It's a fitting character for someone nicknamed "The Gypsy Songman" to write about, we might add. The tune has left an indelible print on American country music.
  7. Jerry Jeff Walker died about two weeks ago. He was a great Texas singer/songwriter and many may or may not recognize his name...but have heard his songs. His most famous was "Mr. Bojangles" and it has been covered by tons of artists including Sammy Davis Jr. and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The story for this song actually came from an old man talking about his life when Jerry Jeff landed in the drunk tank overnight in New Orleans in the mid 60s! London Homesick Blues - Anyone that has watched Austin City Limits on TV over the years has heard this song. The song's chorus was the Austin City Limits theme song for years. He has done many other songs covered by Merle Haggard, Jimmy Buffett, Willy Nelson, Lefty Frizzell, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan and more. I couldn't find a pattern so Mahendra stepped up and made me a great one from the Scamp CD cover. I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch and wiped it with Watco Danish Oil Natural. I'll use a black backer when I get around to making a frame. R.I.P. Jerry Jeff Walker
  8. Absolutely amazing!!!
  9. Thank you!
  10. Thanks, I like his music. Died far too young. Yup...not bad at all.
  11. Yup...what Dan said!
  12. Looks cool! So you're saying it's easier than it looks...?
  13. I saw this TDpainter pattern a while back and just got around to cutting it. It has a special place above the fireplace with the urn that holds our 14 yr old orange tabby cat "BOO". He was a very good pet and companion for many years. We had to put him down last March, the DR thought it was cancer and at his age it was better for him. We miss him.
  14. I Cut Steve Good's pattern of The Beatles guitar pick a couple of weeks ago also. Cut from 1/4" Baltic Birch with a Walnut backer dipped in 50/50 brew
  15. I think I forgot to post this H. Botas pattern Stevie Ray Vaughn I did a couple of weeks ago. I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch and sprayed it with semi-gloss Lacquer. No frame yet.
  16. You sir, hit the nail on the head! I completely agree. I would hazard a guess as to the cause of 80%, or more, of the problems in this country, and others, boil down to two words...NO RESPECT. I would guess that you and I are around the same age, as we both understand this. I learned it at an early age...I still remember the sound of Dad's belt being pulled through his beltloops LOL...but I learned...eventually Younger generations have been let run wild, and we are seeing the results. You are exactly right, behind the wheel or a keyboard people show no respect. As long as they are not held accountable and there is no consequence there is no reason to change, their parents have been lazy and never taught them lessons of life. It gets worse with each generation. Although I haven't watched every news video of all the looting and rioting I have seen a bunch in the recent months. And I don't remember seeing a bunch of 65+ seniors trashing WalMart and running out with shopping carts of TVs ...or even Depends LMAO OK...I'm out of here... Thank you for your comments, I'm not the only one that thinks like this.
  17. Thanks John! Yes Heldas does some awesome patterns. I wish I were talented enough to do them all! But I'm "picking off the easy ones" for now...LOL. I'm working on his new Sean Connery "James Bond" pattern now. And I need to make a frame for the Stevie Ray Vaughn portrait I did a week or so ago. I had never heard about the voting thing in OZ. Not a bad idea though.
  18. Not a chance... I find that extremely insulting as a United States Veteran (as are many on here). Regardless what we think of whoever is in office at any given time...he is the President of the United States and Commander In Chief. I thought we were better than that on this forum to have that kind of a political bias and sarcasm. I simply showed a piece I had cut from a very respectable Australian pattern designer, H. Botas, and reminded folks to vote, as our elections are next week. I did not ask for a political opinion from someone in another country.
  19. Let me think about the wording of my response, I like it here and don't want to get banned!
  20. HALLOWEEN...FULL MOON...2020...COVID...ELECTION MADNESS !!! Buckle up, it could be a wild ride! Take care out there.
  21. OK...after watching that video, twice, I'm going to buy a lottery ticket today!!! Didn't see a single thing I wouldn't want to have in my shop...just how to pay for it all.
  22. I use a DeWalt ROS and don't notice any great amount of dust. I do use my air gun and blow it out from top to bottom about every 2-3 sandpaper changes. Also I empty, and blow clean, the bag fairly often.
  23. We voted yesterday. Mid-afternoon at county courthouse in a small town...only ones there. A older couple (estimate 80s +) came in as we were finishing. Much better than standing in a longline in the cold!!
  24. Hey I like that!! If I can get enough heat in my shop I'll cut it! Thank you!!
  25. I cut this President Trump portrait last week and made a frame for it. I've already got one sold and another interested person. H. Botas did the pattern, I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch ply with #3 & #1 Pegas blades and finished with spray Lacquer. Then mounted it in a frame I made from 1 x 2 White Pine painted black with a black mat board backer. Get out and vote! We did today and beat the lines
