  1. Nice buy Dave I have a couple of pieces. One is 1.5" thick x 7" wide X 36" long and another that is 1" thick X 7' wide and 2' long. I also have a smaller piece with black streaks running through it. Pretty cool looking. I think that yellowheart is no longer imported according to the guys at Ocooch. It is on the endangered list. I love working with it also. For a wood that is very heavy and dense it cuts and shapes like a breeze for me. I use it mostly for Intarsia.
  2. That looks really nice. I can see the hours you put unto it. Looks like one of those patterns from that guy in Spain. "Finescrollsaw"
  3. I'm not sure what's available today, but many years ago I had a Badger compressor and air brush. They worked great for me. We painted toy banks with them. I made the banks on my scroll saw. As far as I know they are still in business.
  4. Really very nice for your 1st try. Looks like you took all the expert advice you accumulated from being on SSV. Also looks like you took your time fitting the pieces together. I have been doing Intarsia for over 30 years and it is still quite a challenge to get all the pieces to fit nicely. I have done many of Judy Gale Robert's patterns. I have found that using the smallest blade with the most teeth works the best for me. I generally use a 2/0 blade except for very dense wood. Then I use the next smallest blade that works. I probably go through more blades than others who would us bigger blades. However, I don't have to remake any pieces either. I just slow down and take my time and stay on the line.
  5. Too cute. I like them a lot.
  6. Excellent! One of my favorite actors.
  7. I should have been more clear. I sometimes attach the pattern directly to the wood when doing Intarsia. I'm going to sand and shaped the piece so what little glue residue is left after applying mineral spirits is not really a problem. I never attach the pattern directly to the wood if I'm doing fretwork, way too messy. I always use a clear shelf liner first then attach the pattern with spray adhesive.
  8. That's exactly what I did for years, then I tried other ways to do it. I'm going back to my old way of spraying the back of the pattern and applying it directly on the wood or shelf liner.
  9. I have made many clocks from a large fretwork clock to small desk clocks just like yours. I'm making a large fretwork clock right now. I like your clock very much. Looks like you took your time and it came out beautifully.
  10. Many clock patterns can be downloaded. All you need is a printer. The issue for you may be where to get the clock parts. There must be somewhere in Australia that carry them? I found this in your part of the world. https://www.clockshop.com.au/parts/ They have clock inserts, clock movements, dials, hands etc. Good luck with your first clock. Ben
  11. Great job Marge. I like the colors too. Your patience paid off with this one. 5 out of 5 stars. When painting pine you really do need a primer first. What's ironic I'm working on a fretwork clock and I'm using the exact same blades you used. I'm an Olson fan. I used the 2/0 reverse cut for the more intricate inside cuts then swithed to the Mach 3 blade for the ouside cuts. They work perfectly for my application. Ben
  12. Very nice Denny
  13. Excellent
  14. Excellent scrolling
  15. "Semper Paratus"
  16. I have also had good luck on eBay. and you can actually see the boards you are buying most of the time.
  17. If you have a table saw with a real good glue line blade, you might want to try gluing up some smaller 1/4" boards to get the width and length you need. I just did that to get a piece of walnut about 13" wide for a fretwork clock I'm making.
  18. Best of luck and hope you have a great year.
  19. Barb I bought a small space heater to warm up our feet in the winter. I'ts controlled with a remote control. I was using the remote for the TV and the space heater kept going on and off every time I would change the channel on the TV. I was confused for a bit, but finally figured it out. The heater remote and the TV remote are on the same frequency. I had to turn the heater away somewhat to stop it from going on and off every time I changed the channel. Really weird Bring in your various remotes near the Wen filter and see if one of them triggers the Wen? Ben
  20. Same here Les. I like it a lot, but it makes me dizzy looking at it too long.
  21. Super nice. No doubt who that is. One of my favorites "Hit the road jack"
  22. Very nice Les. I like it a lot. 5 star
  23. I made this for my daughter for her birthday and room addition. She doesn't know it, but it's on the way to Florida. Her and he husband converted a storage room to a sort of family room in the back of her house and she mentiond she needs some stuff to decorate the walls with. So I thought I would surprise her and her husband with this. I have made items for her in the past so she is familiar with Intarsia. I hope she likes it. Wood used Western Red Cedar Canary Wood Walnut Cherry Aspen BB Plywood Red Heart Finished with 5 coats of Deft Satin Lacquer
  24. Very nice Les. She looks happy with her little friend.
  25. Excellent advice. I have run into issues with copyrights when I had my own website years ago. I designed, made, and sold custom t-shirts online. People were stealing my t-shirt designs.
