  1. Sure, but you would need to round the corners of the panel to fit. Not a common practice at all!
  2. One piece frame....yikes, what a waste of a nice wide piece of wood. Yep, corner chisel would work well, but a good sharp regular chisel should have done a perfectly adequate job since the rabbet is on the back side of the frame. Beside you, who will see it? Invest in a, or build your own, precise miter sled for your table saw. That, along with a good sharp finish saw blade will give you nice accurate miters and you can make good looking frames of all types and sizes.
  3. I get mine from Amazon: Silverline Tools - Dome Sanding Mop - 75mm 240 Grit That is only one, they have many. The Silverline is from the UK.
  4. I have you know it is not just a bird, but a Florida Pink Flamingo!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Very nice. I think the paint work is very well done.
  6. Tres bien fait! (Very well done...acording to Google) Checked what "Bonjour tout le monde" was in English. Google says "Hello Everybody". That is OK but for those in the South how about "Hello Y'all"?
  7. The OP's question is so vague it almost does not warrent an answer. Everything others have said is all true but there are so many different sanding and finishing processes it is impossible to be sure what answer is appropriate. In this world of Scrolling there are so many different type projects from flat fretwork to sculptured projects. all requiring different sanding methods and equipment. Then there is associated wood working like making frames which also requires sanding and finishing. And , of course, the project wood being used can dictate the appropriate sanding and finishing process. Yes hand sanding is often necessary, especially for very final finishing and between applications of finishing materials slike Lacquer and Polyurethane.. However, the use of many different power sanding equipment is also useful and appropriate during the actual wood working process. Hand held random orbital sanders, belt sanders, spindel sanders, disk sanders sanding mops, rotary tool sanding drumbs and more are very common sanders used by most of us.
  8. Is it "REAL" marine ply and not just PT ply? If so where do you buy it. I have a project I want to use a good quality 1/2" thick marine ply that won't deteriate when exposed to the weather . Haven't found a supplier. Thanks. BTW, they are cute!
  9. Just could not help myself!!!!! Actually cut the Flamingo from 1/4" thk Maple Solid core ply and painted pink.
  10. Believe it or not, I did consider that or at least some of those pointy beaked white sea birds (don't know what they ar called) that are all over the place down here.
  11. Looks great and he's happy. What else to say, except you might want to edit the title of this post!!!!?????
  12. The Bells are well cut. I see some rough edges that could use some sanding. Also, not sure if the bells were sanded nice and smooth before painting. The paint looks rough unless that is a textured paint. Some additional light sanding and finishing with lacquer or poly might help. If the bells are cut from some big box store thin plywood, you should look into getting some BB Ply on-line. It will finish better. The little circle's are very well cut. You could call them "Coasters" instead of "Trivets".
  13. Believe it or not, side by side they look almost identical colorwise. I did not reshoot the 2020 plaque. It is the original picture I posted last year. I now have a much better camera and lighting system that brings out the colors much better.
  14. I got the photo. Great job. Finished with lots of Poly coats I presume. Cedar is great for outside, but will darken and split if left uncoated.
  15. Back in November of 2020, I posted a plaque I designed and cut that I intended to hang on the front of our house. It was a play on Winter Wonderland Plaques but made for Winter in Florida. The post was: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/40845-seasonal-plaque/?tab=comments#comment-444798. There was just one problem, I spelled the Word “Welcome” with two ‘L’s”. So, it never got hung. Now it is almost November 2021, so I decided to remake it for this winter. It is the exact same pattern, with “Welcome” spelled correctly. Only change was a slight increase in size to 12” x18”. Words and trees once again cut from 1/4" Maple solid core Plywood and affixed to a 1/2" sanded plywood backer painted Oaisis Blue. Trees painted with Artist Acrylic paints. Plaque was made weatherproof with multiple coats of spray clear gloss polyurethane. So, like I said in that post, come this Winter solstice I'll swap my "Happy Fall Y'all" plaque for this "Welcome to Our Winter Wonderland" plaque. Plaque 2020 turned into firewood. Plaque 2021 (Pic taken with a better camera and lighting) Hope you enjoy. Comments and critiques are always welcome.
  16. Congrats again! Beautiful changing table. Did you design the table yourself? Looks like all Red Oak, yes? Gonna bug you about just one thing. It may be just my imagination, or maybe the camera angle the pic was taken, but the shelf behind the glass door does not seem to be level? When I had my shop in NC, I made tables, a westminister clock, a large gun display cabinet, a large jewelry armore and many more. Also did a lot of wood turning. Unfortunately I had to give that all up along with the shop when I moved to Florida. No capability to make furniture in my tiny shop, so I can only do small projects. That's why I'm now a Scroller!!!!!!
  17. Those who have served and received them must be very proud to display them. Your enhanced piece is absolutely great. Hoorah!
  18. Both very well done. Love Willie! Framing very nice.

    Oak Clock

very nice job. Could not realy see the "boo boos" in the photos so they could not be that noticable. I too, would like to make some of the clocks but my walls are full and unless they would be sold they would just collect dust in a corner somewhere.
  20. This is a recent Steve Good pattern that I increased in size and cut from 12” x 12” panels. Slightly modified to eliminate the hanging holes and added a forth backer layer to allow the words to be painted. The piece is three layers of 1/8” BB Ply and a 1/4” BB Ply backer for a total 5/8” thick plaque. Painting was done with a combination of Rattle can spray paints and Artist Acrylic paints. The plaque perimeter was cut after painting and the panels were assembled. The plaque was protected with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Spray Polyurethane, as this will hang outside on my house for the month of December. I was sloppy in cleaning and sanding as some fuzzies can be seen in the photo that are not so apparent in person viewing unless you get up very close. It is hard to clean off fuzzies after the panels were painted. Yes, I tried to make the full moon look real in a stary sky. Hope you enjoy. As always comments and critiques are welcomed.
  21. Nice work, both on the cutting and on the repair. I know, I know, it was the wood's fault, but we also know some of us like to fess-up when we make a Boo Boo, but if you never tell anyone, nobody ever knows. It is also what makes these peices "one-of-a-kind".
  22. Probably works lots of hours a week and has no time to ride. Jobs and family take priority. Today you really need to be retired and have a good pension to enjoy the luxury of riding a motorcycle.
  23. That was one of my first pieces I did when I started to Sroll seriously. I hangs on the wall just above my desk. Why, you may ask?. Because I realy do ride a Harley. A 2019 Barracuda Silver Street Glide Special To be exact. Wanna see: Here in The Daytona Beach area of Central Florida, it happens to be Biketoberfest. Thousands of bikes are in for the four day festivities. Just got back a few hours ago from a ride down the East Coast of the Atlantic Ocean along Highway A1A. BTW, I failed to mention you did a very nice job on the cutting.
  24. Vaery well done. Captured the likeness perfectly. If I had that cutting hanging in my house, I know I would be asked if it was a self portrait.
  25. Very nice job. Love the pattern and the red backer is spot on. Yep, Maple is always a great choice.
