  1. I have been scroll sawing going on 6 months. I need all the help I can find. Welcome to a great place to share ideas, techniques and tips.
  2. Wow. that looks pretty large. Im estimating 20in x 20in. Have super straight lines you must have a decent size scrollsaw. Okay you could be a expert at spirals. Nicely done.
  3. it does capture his eyes just right. The eyebrows, and the hat just say John Wayne.
  4. i see some characteristics og Hegner. 3 leg stand. Then put a flywheel on it to help power thru the hard spots in the wood. put a crank handle on it to work your arms. You could get a tesla car battery and make it a hybrid. Charge your battery at the same time you scroll saw. Great work out.
  5. I like how the bare feet emphasizes the family roots. Wow the curly maple give the dragon a glowing aura. Nice choice of wood.
  6. That cat has some paws to fill. Oh that job is for the human. It is nice a functional scroll saw project.
  7. ok. how about a micro drill unit near the blade. And longer micro drills for 1 inch wood at 45 deg angle. You can use the same table, and not have to go to a drill press and set table again.
  8. so no one mentioned dust control.
  9. your feathers and double feathers are cool.
  10. important part is team work.
  11. This lion is smelling through a slot in an old building. He is smelling fresh meat, you. Cool idea. pick up some ones cheap furniture. I have been considering a tv table as a functional scrow saw item. A lion staring at you while using a tv tray would be interesting. You would need a plexiglass cover.
  12. These reminders are great. Thanks. I also found a setting to keep the object aspect ratio. It should be set by default. But it is not.
  13. I see the nice old english letter "G" right in center. "GRRRREEEAAAT" work.
  14. So if you use yellow heart wood for the rose. You will have less painting. But the red look fantastic.
  15. is that a new logo for a motorcycle ?
  16. take the bottom 3 and stack them. Have each spin on a separate motor. Now you have kenitic art. All of them look good. Peace, love, hummingbirds, and snowflakes. Beautiful.
  17. just adding to the discussion. . .and my opinion. How do you use the wood grain for clouds on top half and then use the grain for river or pond ripples in the bottom half? I added the river concept to expand ideas. Maybe use a weak transparent blue/green water color look to the bottom half, but still keep the cutout of the ripples? Maybe change bright blue for wet mossy green. overall the concept of pond reflection is good.
  18. "join the herd" looks like it is made from marble.
  19. ..... pulled to the darker background. the blue has more potential for opening the mind for more possibiities. Red is known for hurry up and make a decision. Well that is what "some fruit" corporate says. blue room vs red room. For me the red is more goddessy. Oh and the pieces do really look good. I hope they do their job. promote peace
  20. those pictures sent a song into my head. "how can you mend a broken heart".
  21. Yep. I do like them. I like the saguaro cacti the best. Next project you can add the Joshua trees.
  22. I like your idea about getting the sides painted. Black looks good. Maybe in some cases different color might make it pop more. You effort shows nice smooth curves. Good job.
  23. Questions: On the red flowers is the dark red the only raised area? The light red is backer board? Is this the same with light blue on butterfly? Me not knowing, does the wood need to be primed for acrylic paint? The green stems swirls got a bit thin. Maybe the pattern needs to be tweaked. My idea is super thin wont add much to the art piece. But a broken piece will detract from product. the following comments are just future thought and probably stupid ideas. Since the butterfly is not part of the backer, mount the butterfly on spring steel wire so it can move in the breeze or if you touch it. This will change the viewers attention but will also have potential to degrade from fine art to cute idea. By the way , The piece is beautiful.
  24. Wow this is a thick piece. Your script curves are smooth and the straights looks really good. What blade(s) did you use? Type of wood? Good job.
  25. ooh pretty. What is wood type? and finish.
