  1. Yes this is a great useful project. Love the ideas of 8 sided bowl. The outer frame to hold rings to make the gaps look really different. A framed gapped bowl. Mark
  2. That is a good use of zebra wood. Of course for the orange cat Padauk. I like it. Ooops do I see little hearts on the ear holes? Oh that get extra points. Mark
  3. Maybe some blue leds lights will halp set the snow mood.
  4. That is beautiful. I can smell the cedar already. I hope it fits all the cards. Great inlay. Mark.
  5. Good job on the bowls. The lip of the first one is a good idea.
  6. It looks like the owl is above the background. Shadows tell me this. But it came from the same piece of wood. So it might use a "relief" cut first. That is the outer edge of the owl cut at an small angle like 6 deg or smaller. Then the owl falls out of the back. But wont fall through the top. Then they puzzle up the owl. Stain a few pieces. Put the pieces back. Stuff it in the back and it pops out the front. Glue it from the back.
  7. I'm not sure those are scrap pieces. Those look very pretty. and they fit together too. That can be used as a ice bucket. Like the hotels have. Very cool. Mark
  8. A man with no wood? Tom Sawer? no spelling error Dr. Dimento song from radio. I'm a lumber jack song?
  9. Since started scrollsawing last december, i bought a small band disk sander , a belt / spindle sander and over $200 of sandpaper to fit new machines. A mop sander. Accessories for drill /rotary tools for sanding. I already had palm vibrating sander. If you walk through wood specialty stores , rockler or woodcrafter , they have a good portion of the store for sanding. Another big portion is finishing stains and protection. So yes this concept of getting away from hand sanding is always a big topic in industry. When I use the big belt sander or the small band sander I always accidently touch areas of the piece that already sanded. So I have to redo that area, it becomes a cycle. So i end up hand sanding those areas. But those machine can save alot of time. Mark
  10. Here is an expansion to the short answer....
  11. That is a good way to use your head. Oh I mean good thinking. I am not a dead head so I have never seen that design before. Fried brains? Battery holder? His name is sparky. I do know that feeling of 25Kv. I can still remember the smell my skin burning. No skin on him. Great job. Any shape can be a bowl.
  12. If your well, come on in y'all. It was perfect for lockdown. you just shortened it a bit. Wellcome.
  13. So how thick of wood are you puzzling?
  14. I finally finished my other condor piece. This one shows a flying profile. It is mounted to olive wood with live edge. The olive would is shaped kind like mountains. Aspen wood inlayed into stained poplar.
  15. I like this dragon the best. Nice bright stain. kinda new to me for segmentation. I did lightly stain some of my pieces. Maybe I can venture into more colors like you.
  16. nicely done. I like the grey outline. The experienced and knowledgable look. Did you use different wood for nose and eyes? How thick is this piece? What technique did you use for the hair / fur?
  17. I was mistaken about the bottom knob being motor control. It is the knob to tilt the table. yes the hole i was thinking had something missing was where the tube comes out the top. .. Some scroll saw people dont use a blower, they use a vacuum. The blower should blow dust away from you. Having dusty shirts and pants is kinda a nuisance. So some owners have the vacuum so it reduces the whole dust issue. Yes the scrollsaw can be a addictive tool. Patience and becoming one with the wood is having fun. Yes this village has a lot of knowledge. Just ask questions and share pics.
  18. interesting machine. what is in the big hole in the top arm? Does the motor work? I think I see a variable speed control. This unit can only have "pin" blades. The tension of the blades is set by the back bolt. access is back of top arm. But to change the blade. it looks like just pushing down on the tab above the blade wull release pressure. It will take lots of presure to do this. Im thinking some lever is missing from the big hole on top of the arm.
  19. nice. I like functional pieces. what other items need to separate compartments? cuff links, (out of style) hearing aids , Contacts, earings, nose rings, 2 part epoxy, Anyway the oak does look good.
  20. Nice cutting. beautiful indian artwork. The pose could be my wife "saying oh not again".
  21. oh that is nice. What is it about maple leaves that make art look good.?
  22. Very ornate. awsume work. I see that father time is smiling. The face above the clock face. That is cool. Some young child on the side standing on a long tube trumpet. So well done.
  23. The horse is great, the cutting shows the that the horse is running. the black cat looks like you are having fun with fine delicate pieces. what blades did you use? How thick was the wood for the horse? What problems did you have?
  24. When you put it the cart, you save 87 cents. But you you must remember where you put it all the time. That is the hard part. Remembering.
  25. Is there a story of where these will go? How big are these? Are these going into a museum, the quality is perfect for something like a museum.
