    Great idea about hanging them from a chain.....Plus, I did a google search about the harmful effects of Halogen lights and they emit UV rays so I could actually get sunburned...so that is out. I hope to go to HF tomorrow...if we don't get snowed in....Crazy March Thanks again! Marie

    I would love to have more light. The problem I have is the roof in 'my' shop is over 12 feet high. It is actually my husbands Orchard equipment building and I use a small piece of it (however I am slowly making gains in space, I don't think he has noticed...yet ) Anyway, I transgress...So the lights are way up there and my little lamp by my saw is casting shadows. You have given me an idea though...we have extra giant Hallogen lights we use in one of our Greenhouses (the whole thing weighs about 40 pounds), Perhaps I could hang one of those above me. The added benefit is they also give off quite a bit of heat so I would be warmer as well.... I think, though, I still could use a lighted magnifier.

    Jim that is good info to know. Do you have a recommendation for an LED that is not the cheaper ones. I was thinking of getting one with a magnifier and that had glass. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

    Thank you....I don't have a screen of any type. I just use my safety glasses when I scroll saw. But a magnifier with a light might make my cutting better...gotta blame my mistakes on something

    Paul, what brand is your LED one? I would like a bright one. Fluorescent lighting can give me a headache after a while. I am still trying to figure out how bright Denny's is....but no luck...I will keep looking online.

    Do you know how many lumins your LED one puts out? Is the flourescent one brighter? Thanks

    I like those as well because you have light coming from both sides. I do like the idea of a magnifier though. Tough decisions. Since I do upholstery I think I will look into these since I could use them on my sewing machines (which could use more light) if they don't work out for my saw. I like that they are magnetic as well. Thank you!

    I have two Ryobi (one green and one old blue one) and one bosch...all multitools. My Ryobi are cordless and I have used them both alot, mostly for cutting trim on cabinets and other tasks. I have used them all for sanding in tight spots and they work just okay ...maybe someone has tried a better brand. The bosch is a bit heavy and has a cord but it does offer alot of attachments from tiny to larger triangles and seems more powerful than the Ryobi. The newer green Ryobi is pretty light weight (depending on the size of the battery). I also have a craftsman triangle sander, it looks like a small iron (see pic) and it is lightweight but it doesn't get into those really tight spots as the others because of the tall handle. I have refinished alot of furniture so they were all useful for that. I don't recall a lot of vibration with any of the multi tools...

    I cannot figure out a good lighting system. I do not have astigmatism but it sure feels that way. Does anyone recommend a good lighting system so that doesn't happen. I have an Excaliber 21. Thanks so much ahead of time.

    I had a sewing machine a while back where someone mounted the foot pedal to the inside edge of the cabinet and you used the side of your knee to push against it. I suppose one could do that with any one of the foot pedals. I would probably look for one that isn't difficult to push against, as your leg may get a bit tired.

    Are those papillons? They are adorable...they are also crazy smart! I have seen them in agility and they are very quick and do very well. You have really captured their cute little faces...Well done!

    Well It is still February and I did make this...with a little help from a bandsaw (you can read more about that crazy hard "Red Heart" wood in the Q & A forum section if interested in my struggle ). But now I have some great suggestions from the Seasoned folks on here...Anyway here it is Happy late Valentines day!

    Welcome! I just joined so I am stumbling through scrolling and just made my first project (not too successfully) so I do get being discouraged. Anyway, I am asking questions from all these knowledgeable folks as I journey through this in hopes to be a better scroller. Welcome back!

    Hmmm good question...I honestly don't know. I was looking at others work and really think fret work is beautiful but I think I will start with larger scrolls like cutting out a shape of something practical like maybe a cutting board....what about you?

    Dan what a cutie. Baton twirling is such a fun activity, it requires good balance, coordination and stength and endurance....beats video games! (I would stay away from fire until she is in HS!) Plus she can march in parades! Glad to see her interest in your scroll project...very nice.

    Bill, Glad we both started roughly the same time. Even though you have been here before. Cool, you were a skydiver. I use to date a skydiver in College, he did "team" diving. I never got the nerve to go up, though...I like to have my feet on land. Glad to hear your shoulder is doing well. I am a physical therapist so I have seen a few folks with rotator cuff repairs....Anyway, Welcome!
