  1. An old friend of my Dad's wants me to make him a scroll saw pattern with his yellow lab that passed away a few years back. He saw the one I did of Stella the rotty and wants one for his old boy he always called Baily Dog. I have one started but am having trouble with connections to make it a scroll saw pattern. Been playing with it on Rapid Resizer and I'm just having trouble with it. I would love some assistance on this. I really suck at these kinds of programs.... Thanks in advance! Labrador head tilt.pdf
  2. I really needed to see this topic. I purchased a bee and daisy pattern that I want to color the background and I have been scratching my head on exactly how to do it. I am anxious to give it a try!!

  13. Haha, thanks. There is a backer on it. Happens to look like the background though doesn't it. Didn't notice that until now.
  14. Thanks. I used Alaska birch and black wood dye. Three coats with sanding in between. The backer board is stained with "summer oak". The letters are stained with "kona". Can't remember with brand of stain, we have a pile of different kinds. Found out several years ago if you go to the local dump they have a bin of stains and other items people drop off. I thought all that stuff got recycled but apparently they try to give it away first. Final step was a Danish oil finish on all of it.
  15. Thanks everyone. I will go back and read that article again.
  16. Beautiful!
  17. Finally finished Stella. Ready to hand over to my friend of many many years. I was not perfect with the letters, the E is a bit crooked but all in all I think it turned out well. That ca glue with the quickening spray really doesn't give you any time for adjusting. Yikes!
  18. Anyway I can tell if it is high quality? I don't know the exact measurements but they are big pieces - in the 4 to 5 feet range.
  19. My husband just told me that he had some pieces of baltic birch that came with something he had shipped, it was to help protect it. It was a while back and was stored in one of our outdoor shelter logic tents. We found it and it looks a bit rough. I'm assuming I can sand this stuff down, cut off the edges that look bad and it would be good to scroll with. Thoughts?

  23. I only use this site. After shopping around, this place seemed more my style. I am on a few FB sites but only for looking. I don't participate on FB anymore.
