Couldn't get the maple boards out as they were buried under Spanish cedar and I didn't want to spend an hour moving wood mounted it on a piece of poplar with a router edge -

Ai is far from prefect making scroll patterns but it's free I believe it's intarsia patterns are much better if you have patience and want to argue with a computer -
Had some help from people here had so many patterns I had to use this one because I can't get my new printer to print the others not sure why have to wait for my son to come here and correct my computer problems anyway had to improvise because planes were clouds some were free standing so I made it all atteched Only part I made poor modification on was nose as it's now 2 free standing pieces I didn't realize this till after I made a cut walnut will be sanded lightly and oiled to get darker then mount on either maple or poplar alotnof mistakes oh I mean modifications its 3/8 walnut broke 2 # 2 blades switched to #3 broke 5 of them and finished last large area of cutting with a 5 blade

Disaster struck and 1 weeks worth of scrolling gone
Allen levine replied to Allen levine's topic in General Scroll Sawing
nah, Ive been woodworking for almost 20 years, had 2 lathes, so bad words were common. besides, I listen to the 12 year olds in public, they teach me new ones I havent heard. the cracks still show in outer frame of spanish cedar but my wife says people might think its part of the pattern..... she wouildnt let me hang my clown up anywhere where the kids would see it....I was forced to hang it in my office upstairs. she said its too scary...and that was the point. what I did learn since joining this site, is that even though there are tons of cutting errors on this piece, they really arent errors, or mistakes as I call them, they are now modifications....I like that, learned it here -

that blue bird sitting on the swing set with the guitar, he was a sample I made before I made a set called the bluebirds, a group of blue birds with instruments, a piano player, drummer, and 2 guitar players, not sure why my phone doesnt have a picture of it....they were destroyed in a hurricane in florida, not gonna mention my family member who forgot to secure them during a storm....maybe it was a tropical storm....doint recall now. he might have a photo the momma duck with the baby ducks were a big hit, even had to send my hand drawn pattern to several members of another woodworking forum Im part of because they wanted to make them.

sept of 2019,, we took a 2 month road trip down south, started in virginia, tennesse, drove along the mississippi river down mississippi, as we also enjoy casinos, tunica, vegas of the south, vicksburg, then into new orleans, then back to biloxi, alabama, florida, stayed in florida for maybe a week or so, then as we drove home, along the coast, we decided to head up the delmarva pennisula I believe its called, to go to ocean city maryland, and as we were on the road in maybe it was delaware or maryland down there, there was a huge barn with words fabric, and my wife is an avid quilter so we stopped. he had so much crap in that barn, and he had 2 pvc birds, and he tried so hard to sell them to me, but I had a small convertible and nowhere to put them. when we got home, I looked up pvc birds on the internet, and thats when I started.....and when the pandemic hit a few months later, I did nothing for a year except make birds for charity events, for friends, for relatives, and like I mentioned made over a 100 of them to give out to all the local nurses working during the pandemic....pta at our school gave me a list, but when I dropped one off at a nurse adminstators home, I dont have a clue how she found me I never gave a name, only a note that saide, hi, my name, and i wanted to thank them for their service,, but she found my house and left a note in my mailbox explaining alot of the nurses were jealous and I contacted her and she gave me a list, and then another hospital nurse came foward because they posted it on their face book page.....back then alot of companies and bars were buying lunch for the nurses, free drinks, etc.....my son has at least 20 on his property, and this summer I repainted around 6 of them and had to rebuuild the seesaw with pressure treated wood. so one of the guys I taught, owned a body shop for 40 years, and working the pipes came easy to him, he made beautiful birds, gave a ton out to his friends and neighbors.....he didnt care about cost like I did. giving away so many cost was a big concern to me.\ as far as bending, yes, a heat gun, got one cheap on amazon, it never failed, heat pipe, bend it, then Id dip it into a pail of water to cool it right off so the bend would stay. painting took the longest, one coat, let it dry, second coat, then tape up for second or third and sometimes even fourth color. im proud to say my pvc birds are in at least 7 states i can remember

All ya need is a jigsaw and a heat gun inexpensive to make

I taught 3 people how to make them because they kept taking the birds off my front step they'd ask can I have one more for this kid or my sister etc Then I'd come home and 2 more were gone with a thankyou note 10 foot pipe used to be 18 dollars and I'd get 6 out of one pipe now Home Depot charges 30 for that same piece I've given out so many no one asks anymore i I have 3 or 4 sitting in storage for my daughter next spring to sell to raise money for student council at her school along with birdhouses that always sell

I got my new patterns today from Judy gale Roberts and I'm quite sure I'm in over my head They are huge and the more pieces the more room for error having said that it's only wood and unlike money it does grow on trees ive been going thru my lumber racks i received a huge order of wood from my supplier 50 bf of walnut 50 bf of wide Spanish cedar even though I have tons of 8/4 Spanish cedar it's narrow 75 bf of poplar i have mountains of sapele cherry and hard maple not stuff for scrolling but I use it here and there today I just picked up 24 linear feet of red cedar and 16 linear feet of white cedar i have an order coming in tomorrow of 12 linear feet of butternut 6 linear feet of blood wood don't recall how much aspen and a box of mystery scraps of exotics im set for the next few years of intarsia now I just have to get busy my first project starting next week is the Rottweiler puppy on pillows by gale roberts today I have to make a monster truck ramp for the kids to play with their cars im proud of my grandson he got on the bus today a practice run to start kindergarten next week i promised him if he does a good job I'll have the ramp ready I hope everyone is out enjoying this weather inwill not be doing any work as we have not only my grandkids tomorrow we also have my great niece so I'll be busy till next wednesday one cool note my grandson is attending the same school I attended when I started kindergarten I'm happy it's not the same teacher

Seems Judy Roberts company uses the post office and I may never see the patterns I ordered as the post office in ny is totally incompetent so now I have to get downloads and waste half a day running to staples for copies or find another site for intarsia staples is a zoo and the wait is impossible but they can't file a lost mail claim for 20 days then wait for po eh no patterns to work on so I did another quick good download this morning letting it dry and maybe one more coat of spray lacquer cherry with a pine base
