  4. BLO mixed with mineral spirits 50/50 - I use this on fretwork for the first couple coats. gives a finished look inside the cuts. BLO mixed with mineral spirits & poly - Never tried it but want to and will soon. BLO mixed with poly - Never tried it but want to and will soon. The two poly mixes may be the easiest to get a nice finish on fretwork. Meantime I've been using $3.77 at Walmart

  12. Sam, A #5 is plenty of blade to cut 3/4" wood. try different wood and blade.

  18. Len, I agree on diff wood color would have added to the looks. I did experimenting trying to add the crisscross pattern... would have added much too much time to do it right. Did not think of off-setting wood color

  23. First, Thank you 'OLDCROW SCROLLWERKS' for the pattern. Curly Maple 11" x 7 1/2 by 3/4 thick. Cut with flat blade .029 x .013 Finish is two coats BLO topped with three coats Lacquer ****************************************************************************************************** I stack cut and this is the one from the bottom. The wood is Birch ply 11" x 7 1/2 by 3/16" thick. With the trim and backer, it is 9/16" thick I left out details on the handle but did add a Colt emblem. Critiques encouraged
  24. Hey Len, once you mix the P/PT, do you store it for any length of time? I like the idea of mixing 'other' finishes besides BLO.
