  1. I have cut pvc before. Its funny. You cut through it and the heat of the blade will seal it right back up so once you are through, its still together. Confused the heck out of me first time I did it.
  2. Bought some with your recommendation. Will be here Friday. cant wait.
  3. I make most of my stuff out os 1/8" bbb with a 1/8" back so its pretty thin when done. I have tried everything and what seems to work best it the little silver wiggly hanger things with claws that you pound into the wood. Now knowing how thin the wood is, if i pounded it right onto the piece it would poke all the way through. To prevent this I cut a piece of 1/4" thick a bit bigger than the hanger and nail it to that little piece. Then I wood glue that little piece with the hanger onto the the back of the finished piece. Works great and never had one fall off. Every other thing I tried always failed at some point.
  4. Let the piece move through instead of forcing it through I think would be a better way to put it. It wont feed itself no matter what saw and blades and wood you are using. If it were me, I would start with just one piece of 1/4" bb. get a feel for what blade works best on it, Then add a second piece and see which blade works best and so on. Try the #5 on the 1/4: and it will cut through like butter, almost too much blade. I use a 3 for 1/4? and sometimes a 1 depending on how much patience I have. For 3/4" pine i use a 5 or 7. FD-sr
  5. Down and front like others have sid. Tht of course does not mean that I have not tried it facing the rear. It just does not work right that way.
  6. I use the same wood for the backing that i use for the front like 1/8"bb. I cut out the backing the same time I cut the outside of the main piece. I do this first then set it aside until the end. you can always paint the backer and it will fit to the exact size because it is the same size.
  7. Used to stand, it was ok but nowhere near as good as sitting. i just got a lower bench. Actually its not a bench, its a craftsman adjustable workmate. Perfect height with a regular folding chair.
  8. I use cheapo walmart brand spray adhesive. nothing special, whatever is the cheapest on in the paint department. If you spray a lot until its wet and put it on the wood it will be stuck forever and you will have to sand it off so obviously thats not the way to go. the trick is a very and i mean very light coat. maybe 2 seconds total for a sheet of paper. Now, let it sit for about 15 minutes. it will be barely tacky, if its more than barely, its too wet. 15 minutes means 15 minutes. Put it right onto the wood. bada bing. no tape, no shelf paper, no nothing, just the pattern on the wood. I make very tight turns in tiny spaces less than 1/16" and it stays put just fine. I only use 1/8" or 1/4" bb. If you are using something thicker and the blade is moving faster, than about 10 minutes dry time will work. Just not less than that as it will be a bear to scrape off.
  9. Sounds like the seller understands what he has. So knowing that, why would he sell it so cheap? I dont trust it but i dont trust anyone.
  10. Deadman. Works great and has made a great change for the positive for me.
  11. I have like 8 tubes and use 1-2 of them. the rest are just full of blades that are rusting and get used once a year.
  12. I use BB for the project and the backgrounds. Just cut it to size the same time i lay everything out and it will fit perfect. paint or stain it as needed. guaranteed fit. of course it would be silly to use 3/4" pine front and back. if thats the deal then use a thin piece of plywood as a bacler. tales paint and stays rigid.
  13. I quit using cordless tools for this very reason. have to drill a hole, fine, wait 3 hours to charge the drill. screw that, just plug it in and 30 seconds later the task is done.
  14. Keep in mind that these things will bring the family crest snobs out. Everyone has an opinion about them it seems.
  15. I have a color laser printer brother and love it. Cost me about $150 and came with all the cartridges. I just had to replace the black and yellow after 853 pages. The toners cost me $31 for all the colors and they work great. Simple math, well worth it for how much I paid.
  16. To be honest I dont put that much thinking into my saw. The saw is just a tool. we, we, are the artists. if your saw is not getting you to where you need to be, get a new one. Simple.
  17. Thanks, What I do is cut out all the pieces and write on the back side what color they are supposed to be. Then I put a piece of blue tape upside down so the sticky side is up onto card stock. I use one piece of card stock per color. i stick all the pieces to the according card stock. I them can paint them one color at a time and they all stay seperate. Once dry its like putting a puzzle together.
  18. Thanks. its just rattle can spray paint. Obviously I paint the pieces before assembly.
  19. Here is a piece I just finished. Its about 36 x 24 or so.
  20. Never heard of Lath Art. I looked it up and its pretty cool. Might have to make some. Thanks
  21. 1- move dining room furniture into work shop. 2- Move work shop into dining room.
  22. I cut and paste, literally. I will take a piece of this one and a piece of that one , print them out and tape them together. Take a picture with my phone and email it to myself. bada bing.
  23. I just have one question. Do you do the wolf portrait yet? lol
