  1. Mom loves Oatman and Vegas so i figured i would have some fun and combine the two. Funny because if you know anything about Oatman, its pretty far from fabulous. lol
  2. Fantastic piece!!
  3. I appreciate the concern!!
  4. I watched Event Horizon a couple weeks ago and got motivated.
  5. I would just put it on a white background and take a nice photo of it. Then you will have the pattern and you can simply make it black and white so its easier to see.
  6. This was the patch from the last squadron i was in in the Navy before I retired.
  7. I have a magnifying headset. It came with a bunch of lenses of different strengths and you can use one or two strengths at the same time depending on what your needs are. pretty handy as i can use it for other stuff too.
  8. I have been wanting to take some videos but did not know how to hold my phone. Just realized that I already have an adapter for my tripod so I will do some in the future. Great job on those cuts!!
  9. I always get mine 5 x 5 from a cabinet makers store. They have all sorts of crazy wood in there. I keep it near a window, i live near the ocean. I noticed that it was chipping quite a bit for some reason. Moved it to a new location away from the window and a few weeks later it seemed to not chip so much anymore so it made me think that it had something to do with the environment.
  10. For me as a shopper, the no is basically a stop sign telling me not to buy stuff. People do not care how the stuff was cut, they just want to buy it. i would not give them a reason not to buy it.
  11. Not sure if this is the right place but i think it interests us all. I am a member of the above group on facebook and it seems there is some turmoil going on with the officers and such. If you are on facebook it is worth checking out whats going on with it. I dont know much but it seems the old leadership left and the new people want to know if they should keep it going. I am not a member is SAW but felt some people here might want to keep informed.
  12. Too much thinking. Just get it fairly tight and cut on a piece of scrap real quick. You should have decent control. If it is hard to stay on line, its too loose. If you are scared of it being too tight, its too tight. Thats it. You really only need it to perform they way it is designed. I do think I have actually seen a little device that hooks onto a saw and you would plink the blade like a guitar string and it would register. Then you would adjust it accordingly. I have heard the note should be a C but have yet to test it out.
  13. This was my first ship in the Navy.
  14. There is something to be said for the finished look of the gloss for sure. I have a couple pieces i sprayed with the gloss and it looks very nice.
  15. I used mine probably longer than most did. Once i finally got sick of it I realized that I did not need it.
  16. I pretty much use 1/8" bb for all my fretwork stuff. Its thin enough to easily work with and it holds up well. What I would do with this piece is size it up a bit in excel. Print it across 2 pages so it would be say 15" wide or so. Just easier to work with and the tiny areas will be more workable. What will happen is when you are cutting there will be an unsupported part right where that hole in the saw is. To overcome this I use one of those old casino playing cards with a hole in the middle of it. Tape it to the table with packing tape and now its just a 1/4" hole the blade goes through. Mosre support for the jiggly parts and less breakage.
  17. If I want to do something like this, i take a picture of it and email it to myself. Then i can play with the pattern and resize it and such as much as i like. When done I print it out and spray glue it to the wood. Now I will always have the pattern for future use too.
  18. The sad part is that people fall for this, thats why they continue to do it.
  19. I use this method. Bought a couple big bags of rice and made my own sandbags of various sizes with some zip lock bags.
  20. I have some spiral blades. I use them when life is going to good for me and I need some extra aggravation.
  21. I start my projects at the bottom right and work from right to left. I turn the wood counter clockwise.
  22. Use excel or a spreadsheet program. Click intsert picture and select the pattern. You will be able to change the sizes by pulling the little grabby corner things. You can put it basically wherever you want on the page and it will print it where you put it. I like to expand the margins as big as they will go. It will also let you print across multiple pages. You just need to cut them out and tape it together.
  23. I would eat this if I was a fish!! great job.
  24. I wish my saw had the capability like a sewing machine of just going one stroke at a time with a hand wheel or something for really tight places.
