  1. I use an aquarium pump. Works way better than the blower that came with the saw because it is always blowing even when I saw super slow. Pump and tubing was less than $10 at walmart.
  2. For me it depends on the complexity of the cuts. The thicker the piece the more washed out the complex cuts will be just due to the size. I use 1/8" bb.
  3. That is very impressive.
  4. I would rather be on lock down then try to use my spiral blades. I just dont understand them.
  5. I do this type of stuff all the time. I spray paint the pieces. That way I can get even colors on the side too. You know how it is when you stain that edge, it always is too dark or different looking. Spray paint also gives you a limitless amount of colors to choose from.
  6. Makes sense Brenda, thank you.
  7. I printed this out and folded in in half. I dont see how this could work. It is supposed to be one name on top and the other on the bottom right?
  8. I use baltic birch. It takes the paint nicely. I used to use luan but noticed that it would starts to detach after a while. Just went with the bb. Its more expensive but it wont ruin the piece. I have also used foam board for larger pieces to save weight and money,
  9. I can understand frustration. Perhaps a different approach might work. Why not think up some sort of a jig that will hold the pieces in place while you assemble them? Something like that might at least give you a sense of taking matters into your own hands and not having to rely on others.
  10. I just stick with the 5 x 5 and have them cut it in half. Easier to deal with that way. I like mine with the russian writing on it.
  11. Man does that ever sound great, would love to go.
  12. You know they are getting low balled too.
  13. You can do it of course but what happens is the sheer weight of the piece starts to become an issue with controlling the fretworks. Plus you will have to be far away from it so add that in and it can get messy real quick. Imagine sitting 20 inches farther from the saw than you currently do. Just seeing the blade will be that much harder. You can cut it into more manageable chunks and just glue it back together. When i do larger pieces like that I use foam board as a backer. Its way lighter and way cheaper than wood. You can paint it also whatever color you like. Plus it doesnt warp.
  14. I dont, I use 1/8"
  15. Great set up and the price seems right up my alley!!
  16. Probably would have been a lot simpler if he had a friend who just said he didnt know when they asked him where he got it. Something about that story is not believable.
  17. Just got done with this one.
  18. Very nice piece!! Looks professional for sure but i would not expect anything less from you!
  19. Sometimes it will look splotchy if you do not pre treat it. They sell stuff that you just brush on and wipe off to pre treat, Think its called pre conditioner or something like that. If it is not bug deal I just brush the stain on with a disposable foam brush and wipe it off with some paper towels. could not be simpler. of course, use some gloves or something because that stuff is watery and will get everywhere if you let it.
  20. I dont use a 2/0 to cut 1/4" because they are just not up to the task. I use them but its not ideal. That said, I have great success with good old jewelers blades. get them on amazon for like $18 a gross. They get get into any tight corner you can imagine, Also though they leave a mess on the back of the piece so something to keep in mind. No reverse teeth at all. I have used FD and and loyal t those. Have some pegas ones but they just dont do it for me.
  21. Great job.
  22. Love them!! Puts me in the christmas mood!!
  23. It looks great. Next time, save the black part like it is a big outline and just put the wood colored pieces back in. of course it all will line up and go right together. The only trick to this techniques is to make sure your drill holes are in corners of in the black parts so you cannot see them. Looks great!!
  24. Finally finished this piece.
  25. Beautiful!!
