  1. I have the store quater each panel. i then cut them to size on the scroll saw. not that easy as they will still be pretty big but it works if you stand far enough away and have a foot pedal.
  2. I do this too. get some used casino cards with a hole poked in the center of them. works great.
  3. I use 2/0 jewelers blades for these. can really get into the finer details with them.
  4. I saw inside and dont have an issue with it. just sweep up when you are done. I did try using the router inside and i would not suggest doing that. made a terrible mess.
  5. I use a harbor freight deadman type. works great. push pedal, saw, take foot off, not saw.
  6. I use this and some aquarium tubing. To make it pointy in the end i stuffed a piece on ink pen in the end. taped it along side of the current tube, works great. I saw on the slowest speed so the bellows dont blow enough off at that slow speed. pump works great.
  7. What is the freezing you speak of. its 80 here in San Diego. Come on down, lots of room.
  8. I glue a small 1 inch wide piece of 1/8" stock to the back of the backer and then nail the sawtooth hanger into that. It will go through the little piece plus through some of the actual backer material. . Stays on nice and strong.
  9. Great job, love the painting too.
  10. Great job. dont need one but might "develop" a need for one myself.
  11. I use tiny bits and one of those spiral jewelers drills. works great and I do some seriously tiny holes for 3/0 jewelers blades.
  12. I bought mine a few years ago, wasnt in the market for one but was just looking on craigslist for the hecl of. Right when I looked a guy posted a dewalt for $135. called him right away and bought it. It is a refurb but he only used it once since buying it, still had the coating on the table and the original blade in it. didnt even have any hint of sawdust on it. he said alot of guys called but i was the first so i got it. didnt even try to barter the price. has worked great ever since. I dont use it every day but its always ready when I am.
  13. I dont like to pay the shipping so I will just order a bunch at one time so i only have to order onc. Wont be paying 5$ for blades though, not for a dozen anyway. i wont shop locally for them, they just dont have what I want.
  14. Take the tension knob off and you will see you can adjust it inside there. I never even tension mine to 2, usually about 1.5. I set it this way by adjusting the knob inside.
  15. I glue a 1 inch by 1/4 pice of 1/8" bb onto the back and then nail on one of those picture hanger things that have spikey things on each end to that piece of bb,. I have tried everything and this works the best.
  16. Its its smaller, put in on your printer and make a copy. i do that all the time, after that you can adjust it as needed to work. If its too big, take a nice close up pic of it and adjust it as needed.
  17. Hate to say it but buy more blades. the the one constant in this art form.
  18. I used to use a hand drill like the kind with the big gear but now I use a twist drill thing that has a spiral. i drill one hole at a time now. cut it out, next hole and so on. If i drill alot of holes they seem to get covered back up while cutting the first one so i end up drilling them out again.
  19. Have not tried a record. The melting would be the issue for sure. i tried to cut some glass the other day but got nowhere in a hurry. just used a range of regular blades but did nothing.
  20. I use a very light coat of spray glue and I mean light,. maybe 1 second for the entire pattern. if you put more, it will stick too much and be hard to take off and require sanding. its a bit of an art but once you figure it out, you wont go back. It says right on the can how to do it so it can repotisioned. use those instructions. If the spray on the paper looks wet at all, its way too much.
  21. Very nice, great pics as well.
  22. I have been scrolling for years but these baskets always mystified me. nice work.
  23. Sounds like a nice demo. ' of course we can all scroll saw here so it wont really help us. What we cant do is juggle 3 scroll saws. now that would be something to see!! lol
  24. I dont use either one. i use a super thin coat of spray glue, super thin so its basically hardly attached. i do super fine work as well with tons of tiny pieces and thin lines and never have an issue. The pattern doesnt need to be on there for life. just long enough to cut the piece. less is more sometimes.
  25. The Santa looks great Dick. Good for you for taking the risk. i an sure you noted that when doing those tiny dangly bits, the place where it will breal is the unsupported areas that are getting vibrations from the blade. for me thats always over the opening where the blade goes into the table. I use one of those playing cards you get from casinos that have a hole punched in the middle of them. Clear tape it to the table and run the blade up through the hole. it cuts that vibrarting unsupported area way down.
