  1. Take a picture with your phone of the pattern. email it to yourself. I print large patterns in excel as it can go across multiple pages. i tape the pages together.
  2. I paint all my pieces with spray paint. If i need a different shade like say pink, i will shoot both white and red at the same time. takes some practive but you can do it. i live in an apartment so i set up out back in this big area with no cars around, its a hassle if its windy.
  3. I spray paint all of my projects. never use primer. I do sometimes just paint the whole thing white first as a base coat so i suppose thats similar.
  4. I get mine from a place that sells all sorts of specialty types woods for guys who make custom cabinets and the like. 60 x 60 sheets. the 1/4" is about $15 or so. just picked one up last month, the 1/8 is a bit less. search your town for this type of place.
  5. I use jewelers blades almost for everything. i cut 1/8" baltic birch no the slowest speed. my standard blade is the 2/0 but will use 3/0 for tinier detailed stuff. any smaller and they will break too easily. The leave a nice top but a rough back so i will cut the piece out and then have to sand the back if it is going to show. its worth it though for the precision of them.
  6. Nice enclosure, now you just have to put you saw on the outside of it and everything inside will be dust free!!
  7. I run my saw on the slowest possible speed. i also use pretty tiny blades so i have to. I would actually like it if it went way slower. i usually cut 1/8" bb though too. i get scared of the thing if i have a big blade and go full out and I have been scrolling for many years.
  8. I dont like it either.
  9. Cant resist wondering what an atheist themed pattern would be. i understand the darwin fish thing but do we have to go to the point of crosses with an x through them and the like? wouldnt things that are not religious be considered atheist or non religious? i mean, wouldnt a picture of a duck qualify? its not religious. Not trying to be a wise guy, just trying to grasp this.
  10. I lost 130 lbs so i know how you feel. seems impossible but its actually pretty simple. 1- This weigh yourself the first day. now eat exactly like you do now, nothing different. the only thing different is that you need to write down everything you eat. everything. write down the time you ate it too and how much. 2- next week. do the same thing but this time try to eat the same stuff but now split it up into 6 meals per day. So instead of skipping breakfast and eating a giant lunch, eat that same food but onky eat like half for breakfast and the second half for lunch. Make sure you are aiming at about every 3 hours. Absolute worst case, you are still hungry and will eta again in 3 hours. not too hard to do that. write down everything you eat again. 3- Week 3. now start looking at those same meals figuring if you can trim the sizes of them some, maybe 1 slice of toast or no cheese, something simple like that. of course write it all down. 4- week 4. now you have been doing this for 3 weeks so you know you wont starve to death and you dont have to eat celery all day so start taking a closer look at those calories that you are really ingesting. Just by doing this and shopping smarter you can trim a huge amount and not feel like you are starving to death. 5- Now start dealing in the diet, calorie wise every meal. shoot for a target calorie intake every day and make sure you hit it. trying to outsmart it and not eat wont work so some days you will have to eat even when you arent hungry to keep the machine working properly. I would personally shoot for about 2500 cals per day as a starting point. everyone is different. the key is, if you eat that much per day all week and lose1-2 lbs, then its working so stick with it until you stop losing. The trick is to write down everything and to be honest when you do it. you are only lying to yourself. Also, forget salad and veggies and all that jazz. i didnt and still dont eat any of them and lost weight just fine. After this its just a matter of repeating this every day until you hit your goal. you are going to be eating every day anyway so might as well lose some weight in the process.
  11. I use a super light coat of spray glue, super light. just barely and i mean barely tacky. then i just put it on the wood. if its too much it will be impossible to get off.
  12. I sign mine on the back. Not really a signature but i spray paint a crow on it with a stencil and my initials. Sort of my thing.
  13. I buy the sheets of baltic birch and have them cut them in half at the store. That leaves me still with 2 pieces that are about 4-5 feet long. I have a foot pedal so I pull out and stand up far away and just guise it through the saw the best i can. sort if a hassle but dont need to do it too often.
  14. I have a deck of old casino cards, they kind they drill a hole in the center of when they get rid of them. I tape one to the table with clear packing tape. problem solved.
  15. I store mine in tall perscription pill type bottles, some are a orange color and some blue with a flip top, i am sure you have seen the type. I took a piece of inch thick pine and cut holes big enough for the bottles to fit into so they dont fall over. i tale the label onto the bottles so i know what blades they are, also makes reordering easy.
  16. Off to a great start. ejnoy it.
  17. I use the cheapest spray glue that walmart sells. To apply my patterns i quickly spray the back and i mean quickly. not even 1 full second of spray. i then set the pattern aside and touch the back. if its too tacky, it will be a nightmare to peel off. i wait until its just barely tacky and then put it on the wood. Comes right off after i am done cutting.
  18. 2 years? i break them daily, usually more then one.
  19. What i do is lay out my piece and spray glue it down. then i measure my borders and draw some lines for those. i then tape a backer board onto it with some painters tape around the edges. After this i can cut a frame and backer at the sme time. once it comes to assembly, of course it will be an exact fit as the pieces were all cut initially at the same time. take as much time cutting the backer and frame and use quality stock for this as it will really make or break the piece. imagine a rembrandt in a dollar store frame.
  20. When i want to print bigger stuff i do it from excel. it will let you put the picture across mutliple pages. i then print it out, cut it and tape the pages together. not exactly what you seek but easy solution. also scalable to whatever size you want so you are no longer hemmed into what the printer or margins tell you you can and cant do.
  21. I have stated before that i have a different opinion on this topic. I used to sell ebay logos made of wood on ebay. never said a work about it and certainly they are monitoring this stuff. look on ebay for ebay logos now and you will see page after page of home made ebay stuff. Also used to sell Raiders logos on ebay, sold alot of them. Another thing is tattoos. You can see people wearing star wars tattoos and they are clearly star wars or disney or whatever. Disney certainly knows about this but they never go after the artists who are making alot of money with this artwork, nor do they go after the people wearing the art. Of course you cant say officially licensed star wars tattoos or something like that.
  22. I dont use stain but i mainly use white paint as a base coat on all my pieces. its always a hassle to paint all the pieces white after the fact so i just started painting the entire sheets white and then cutting the pattern. i guess great minds think alike!!
  23. Its all in how you like to do your work. No one says you have to stick with the traditional patters and sillouettes. i gave up those years ago. here are a couple example of stuff I do.
  24. Word to the wise. Dont use your new router in the dining room. Learned that lesson yesterday. Who knew they produces alot of sawdust?!
  25. Keep in mind also that there is birch plywood and baltic birch plywood, two different things that will perform differently. Baltic birch is much easier to work with and what most people use.
