Years ago I had a detached retina.  3 surgeries later, double vision corrected with prisms in each lens, I can only saw or drive a car for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before needing an hour rest.  Decided it just isn't worth it anymore.  Just finished my last of 6 Forest Wren Bowls.  My Delta 40-694 will now be greased & given to a son that wants it.  He has already made beautiful furniture.

Attached is a picture of my 1st & also my last project.  The Cathedral Clock was cut with my first saw, a $69 Performax.  Not shown is that it's on a pedestal, making it a 6 1/2' "grandfathers clock".  It went to our oldest son for a housewarming gift.

The bowl will be given to a cousin.  Never had an interest in selling any.  A lot of it went to the Stephan Ministers at Our Church.  They give them out to people that ask for help with their "issues".

For those of you on Facebook, search Jerry Herold's Scroll Sawing & Patterns to see samples of things I made.

Hi, Jerry,

I'm extremely saddened to hear that you are giving up scrolling but, as already mentioned, I hope you will still be
present here on the site to comment on projects, maybe share some of your patterns, and to joke around with us.

I really enjoy your type of humor with the funnies you share.

You can also PM me any time or e-mail at spirithorse55 at Hotmail dot com using the proper format with the @ and the . of course.

God Bless! Spirithorse

So sorry to hear of your issues Jerry. I check in here every day to see what you have to offer for entertainment/enlightenment.  Wishing you the best in the next part of your journey.

And no, I hate to argue with you, but to me you are NOT a quitter.

Sorry to hear about your eye problems. As has been said the title is definetly wrong, that clock was not done by a quitter.  Now that you've time on your hand you'll be able to buy me a coffee when we bump into each other at the store. And I would say that facebook are reporting a spike in your page. Keep Safe. Bob

Sorry to read this.  Hope you stick around to give us input and chuckles.  You are part of our family/village.  Your picture of the Forrest Wren bowl, caused me to have to buy the pattern (all your fault, I rarely buy patterns...).  I still have it and still plan on giving it a try one day.

Jerry,

So glad that I am on the scroll saw village and have had the opportunity to get to know you, even though we personally have never met.  The responses here, show how much others care about you. It reflects the power of the internet and also what Travis has built for all of us with keeping this site for scrollers alive. A new member of The Village has only to log on often to understand what I mean. It does not take very long before one understands what this 'family' is all about.  It has to be very difficult to give up something that you all those that have benefitted from your talent at scrolling, has received from you. Thank you for all you have contributed to your  internet family.   I also hope you will stay on line for us.

Just the pictures you posted shows great skill and patience. Your weekly postings show your tremendous humor and the number of growing posts shows the large group of friends you have developed that would miss you tremendously if you didn't post occasionally. As one that has too accommodate disabilities, I hope you continue to find enjoyment and love in all of  your endeavors. RJF Richard J Friese
