Popular Post Old Joe Posted April 28 Popular Post Report Posted April 28 (edited) Due to some health, and other issues, I’ve been stagnant for a few months with my scrollsaw, but with the help of a pattern from Fiona Kingdon, I fired things up the past few days. This is called Foliate Crucifix. I took a few liberties with it, mainly with the recessed cut making for a ring within a ring, allowing me to insert a stained glass backing. I have now done a few using this technique. It’s more difficult to do than it looks, but I’m mostly happy with the result. Trying to get a picture highlighting how intricate the cuts are proved to be impossible. Other than for the recessed cut, I used Pegas size zero spiral blades for every other cut. The outer circle is 9” wide. Edited April 28 by Old Joe More info. ChelCass, Jim McDonald, JackJones and 22 others 16 2 7 Quote

jerry walters Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Happy you're feeling better. Having a scroll saw sure does improve our spirits. Sometimes when I'm down, I can't wait to get back. Nice cutting. Jerry danny, Old Joe and barb.j.enders 2 1 Quote

cswilliams1963 Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Beautiful wood! Great skill! Where do you get the wood from? Old Joe 1 Quote
Old Joe Posted May 4 Author Report Posted May 4 (edited) cswilliams1963, A couple of years ago I bought a couple of 12’L x 12”W x 1” thick boards from the Frederick Lumber Company in Maryland. I planed the 2nd one down to 5/8” thick, which made it easier to work with. I have done numerous projects out of it and am down to a a couple of feet left. They had a big stack of it. I was in there last week and they only had a few picked over pieces left. It is beautiful wood and moderately difficult to scroll. Frederick Lumber, formerly Exotic Lumber, is a massive indoor lumber yard with massive quantities of many varieties. Edited May 4 by Old Joe Quote
